What a fabulous kit. My Year 2 class have loved having these as part of our literacy rotation. Some have even been motivated to use their own tiles at home for spelling. There are so many different ways we have used the tiles, they are challenging each other to make as many different words as they can. Love this resource.

Tell us about an unexpected outcome from having used this kit. The letters are in capitals - would have been great to have had them in lower case.
The children have loved exploring making words with the tiles. We initially introduced them to the children by making superhero words. After a week or two of this, we then introduced the shopping lists which they have enjoyed. This will continue to be a resource in our learning space that is well utilised.

Tell us about an unexpected outcome from having used this kit. I noticed a real improvement in one particular child's spelling work. I contacted the Mother to let her know. She said they had been using the tiles at home to work on spelling. This was a Mum who previously had not been very engaged in homework/home supp
Great resource for letter, sound, word knowledge and skills. The tiles are a different material for the children to use, like handling them. Kids like collecting them. Kids play games- link between home and school for the kids who are collecting them at home also, play games as a family.

Tell us about an unexpected outcome from having used this kit. These are so popular in the classroom that we could have more of them to cater for all the children who want to use them.
Absolutely wonderful resource. The children love using these during our literacy time

My class was SO EXCITED to receive the shopping tiles kit last term. After we’d unpackaged them all (which turned our fingers blue heheh) we packed it away to save for fresh term 4. We’ve used it each day as a part of our phonics rotation, using the fishing rods and cards. We’ve also incorporated into our topic time where we use it as a memory game.

Tell us about an unexpected outcome from having used this kit. We have had an abundance of 3 and 4 year old visitors in the morning! It has been lovely to see the tuakana mentoring teina in playing and learning alphabet. An unexpected but wonderful outcome. We hope to continue to foster this.
We have loved exploring both literacy and numeracy with our tiles. We have looked at statistics and probability. We have fished for letters and words, shopped and made some interesting sandwiches. We are currently thinking of ways to challenge our learning using these tiles and are inventing our own games.

Tell us about an unexpected outcome from having used this kit. Th eclass have had so many ideas that I didn't even think about.
Absolutely fantastic. The class having been making up the words in te reo as well as english. One of the students came up with the idea to make a giant word find of all the letters and then get the rest of the class to find the hidden words.
