My students and I loved this kit! From the time the box arrived, opening all the tiles then working through the activties. This kit has been great for fast finisher tasks to supporting students with writing ideas. My students have been creative in thinking of their own ways to use the tiles.

Tell us about an unexpected outcome from having used this kit. It created great conversations around magnetism - all sparked by the rod picking up one of the shopping lists as a tile was underneath it. We then introduced magnets into our play based learning and its still going strong three weeks later.
The countdown tiles kit was AMAZING! From the very beginning the excitement was high unwrapping the tiles, we had loads of fun sorting them by colour, then by character, then flipping them over to sort by the letter. I hadn't even revealed the magnetic rods and shopping lists yet! I used every activity as literacy rotations and all of them were a hit! Matching capitals to lower case letters, spelling out sight words, matching tiles to the shopping lists, making our sandwiches! We even had our own little mini swap day - strengthening the home school connection as parents came in and watched them using the tiles as a learning tool before taking them home and doing it at home too. They all remarked what a neat idea it was and would've loved the magnetic rods sold at countdown as well. Thanks so much Countdown and School Kit - you're fantastic!

Tell us about an unexpected outcome from having used this kit. Unexpectedly, there was a much more social aspect to the kit than I had anticipated. Before school students would often work with the tiles before school, and create their own little games. A lot of fun. Thank you!
The children have enjoyed the practical nature of this kit. In particular, the magnetic 'fishing rods'. As the teacher I appreciated the focus on letter identification and word knowledge/ making words.

Tell us about an unexpected outcome from having used this kit. I didn't expect the children to enjoy the games as much as they did. I hope the novelty does not wear off.
The kids enjoyed the games. They were particularly excited about the tiles as they were familiar with them. They even wanted to swap them for some of the ones they don't have. I have to police them pretty well to ensure I don't lose any. As a teacher, I was able to see how I could utilise them better as an on-going class independent activity to ensure their letter knowledge is maintained. It was also a great way to introduce them to some new vocabulary as they didn't know the names of some of the items. It was enjoyed by both my Year 4's and my Year 2's so great coverage in my class of multi levels.

Thanks School Kit Squad. We unpacked our kit today and we had so much fun unwrapping our letter tiles, comparing, grouping and seeing what words we could make and putting them in alphabetical order.

I opened the junior literacy kit with my class today... and we spent an hour doing maths with it! Predicting what letter we’d have the most of, and then working out the results, and why we might have got so many of I compared to Q. Then predicting which character we had the most of, and tallying up. We didn’t have time for graphing, maybe tomorrow. So much fun and engagement, the students can’t wait to work with the tiles again :slightly_smiling: thanks School Kit!

My class was super excited to discover our kit had Disney tiles inside. We have loved using the fishing rods, bingo cards, shopping lists and sandwiches during our literacy rotations. We have even purchased some of the scrabble boards to make words. We secretly enjoyed swapping tiles and completing two sets of characters too!
