What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We really enjoyed to story telling dice, they were particully helpful for those that are reluctant writers. Thankyou for all the great work you do.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? It was great for oral language, art, reading, poetry and writing. We also learnt a lot of te reo and about māori myths during this Inquiry.

“Overall the Hub throughly enjoyed using this teaching tool. The kit was very organised and well laid out which made it easier to integrate into our programme. The kids loved learning and exploring through story telling and we found it was able to be used throughout our wider curriculum.”

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Level of story a little abstract for my year 2s. We did get some good literacy in storytelling and art from Kupe and the whale.

How did you find the open format of this kit? I love the idea of cross curricula units but somehow didn't gel too well with this one like I have for others. Thanks for the opportunity to try it and there are components (like question dice, Stem) that we can reuse.

“A lovely resource with very open ended ideas. It would have been better to have the full story of Kupe and the albatross rather than the retold version as this was hard for younger students to understand. We intended to take a tuakana-teina approach but unfortunately due to COVID-19 and getting too many kits I wasn't able to make full use of the great resource. I will use it throughout the rest of the year as time allows”

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? The visual art features and the story telling parts of it were really good. We looked into our families and our heritage so we looked into aspects of Social Studies too.

“Unfortunately, because of the Covid pandemic things didn't go the way I had planned and we only worked on the research about whales and albatrosses. This fitted in with our topic. We read the I am a story book together and talked about the power of stories. I am planning to use the kit further in term 3 and 4. Thank you for your work.”
