What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Website was the easiest thing, as it was visual for my young kids who are still to early into their learning

How did you find the open format of this kit? It was tricky to navigate. I had never had the school kit and it is my first year of teaching so I wasn’t too sure how to go about everything with such young kids I didn’t really know well yet

“This was the first kit I ever received for my first year of teaching. I rated this one a 3 because I didn’t feel as though it was as easy to navigate- especially at the beginning of the year when I was just trying to settle in with my students etc. I feel like for the beginning of the year the relationships kit would have been a better success. I tried this kit, but my kids didn’t seem to gain much interest from it. After receiving other kits like the relationships kit and firing away with it, this one was a little tricker to figure out!”

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Having the stories led beautifully into drawing out themes and discussions which linked through to our Learning through play activities and creative work.

“The Exploring Kit developed great vocabulary and discussion. It also provided interesting structures for writing. There were plenty of things to choose from to suit 6 year olds, even if needing some adaption. The natural cultural immersion into the kit is great. Ideas for connecting different aspects helped immensely with planning and there were no shortage of ideas. Thanks.”

How did you find the open format of this kit? I struggled with this I think. I enjoy really clear, defined instructions unless I am involved in creating/planning something. Otherwise I would appreciate a video or some sort of very clear instructions for support.

“I found that I struggled with this kit. I didn’t properly understand the direction I was going or the path I was meant to take. I tried searching for support documents but, for some reason, I just really struggled to find what I needed to understand it. As a class we ended up just taking bits and going off them. I feel it may have just been my own head space as I usually live the kits.”

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? I felt for my level (year 1/2) it had to be very teacher directed, but in saying this it covered many areas across the curriculum.

“Was a great kit. I feel like everything has been disjointed with lockdown, no reflection on this kit at all. Also including some further ideas for use would be helpful. Some of the tasks were abit above the kids in my class but were adapted”

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? This kit in particular, for term 1, was helpful to get to know students and form relationships with each other. It did fit into out setting up for success inquiry.

How did you find the open format of this kit? I think because it is open it will enable me to use it again, hopefully term 4 where we can do some more exploring. I'm going to try and incorporate parts into our writing program next term. As the kids did enjoy the storytelling part of the kit.

“My Year 2 class enjoyed the story in this kit. Unfortunately we didn't get into it as much as I wanted to though. They loved acting out the story as I have a very active bunch of students. This kit was a great way to get students to explore their own families and find out stories from home that they could share with us. My class is very multicultural and have very interesting backgrounds. I think we will look at this kit again in term 4 when we have more time to get into properly. I also had the farming kit, which we loved. I think it was a mistake for me to try to do 2 kits at the same time as I think the exploring kit was put to the side.”
