What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? The kit allowed for use across reading/writing/tech/te reo. WAs good for our oral language building also

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Very useful for cross-curricular. We used it for literacy, art, science, maths.

How did you find the open format of this kit? The kit enabled us to progress through areas more suitable for year 3/4 class. Some components were at a higher level and would not recommend for younger students.

“The exploring kit was fantastic! The kids were particularly interested in the early navigation and settlement of NZ - led on well to our investigation of early settlement of Horowhenua. I look forward to using the kit again with my new class next year and delving deeper into it! So many resources and so much more for us to utilise in this kit. I expect I will use it for many years to come!”

How did you find the open format of this kit? I struggled a bit more with this, but I think given my class and the year that we have had, played an impact on this unfortunately. I think it would be more suited to older children than the kids I had too.

“I think this kit had excellent potential, and endless amounts of great activities to be done from it. Due to how this year played out, I definitely did not do it justice, and have since passed the resources on to a teacher who suited it far more! My class did enjoy learning about adventures and discussing their families and stories and led into some fun drama games and writing activities!”

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? The dice and story telling worked well for cross-curricular learning as I was able to use it for my writing and create a whole topic around them.

How did you find the open format of this kit? It was good, however I feel as though I may have enjoyed it more if there were specific plans to go along with it. That being said, having the open plan I was able to add in aspects to my own planning.

“I found this kit was well resourced and filled with information however, it was a little bit too complex for my students and they did struggle with it a little bit. I was able to use some parts of it which worked really well. As this was my first time buying a school kit, I was unsure what to expect but it worth getting! Will be getting more in the future.”

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? The question dice allowed us to go deeper in our Literacy learning but also cross over to inquiry. I found the questions on the dice challenged the students to think more critically and go past the surface of the text.
