We didn’t get very deep into the cross curricular learning experiences due to the COVID 19 school closure, however, many of the experiences were suitable for the children to complete as part of their learning from home which was great!

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We used the stories you suggested and the music to to create little interpretations. The would you rather cards were super useful to tie into writing and lended themselves nicely to researching animals as a class experience too.

“It was very practical and the kids loved it. The poster was amazing and always ensured that there were hordes of kids hovering around it before school finding new things they hadnt seen before. We enjoyed the 'would you rather' cards and used these in our writing and helped us to write better sentences using because to justify our opinions. All in all a very engaging, fun, colourful kit. How did you find the open format of this kit? OK...more guidance would be good. The kits for older children seem to have far more instructions on how to use it...it would be nice to have it all pre-planned so we don't have to do too much of our own planning surrounding it.

“Another great kit. Liked the flexibility of kit and how it encouraged families to talk about family stories and things that were important to them. “I personally found that the kit was a little beyond my Y0 class so we didn't fully utilise it. The instructions took a few reads to get my head around and although we enjoyed some aspects of it and used it as inspiration e.g. sea animals and family links, we had to take it quite far from the kit to make it work for us. The dice were great and I shared them with a Y3 teacher to use in her room. We also used the this and that cards which have been enjoyed too, so much so that we have added to our set.”
