It enabled a wide range of cross-curricular learning experiences. For example their green farm (art) became their motivation for writing. Their 'design a shed' (art) became extended by maths (length, size etc) to fit animals into their design.

There are many benefits to an open format. As a Beginning Teacher, it perhaps would have been even more beneficial to have a few example lessons on how to go about delivering some of the content.
