What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? It translated oral language in story telling, to writing our own stories and opinions as well as reading and poetry. We didn't use it for maths but it was great for art and writing.

How did you find the open format of this kit? OK...more guidance would be good. The kits for older children seem to have far more instructions on how to use it...it would be nice to have it all pre-planned so we don't have to do too much of our own planning surrounding it.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We did a lot of cross-curricular learning relating to farming. We painted pictures, maths with the tokens, story writing with the cards, learnt the Maori words for farm objects, reading farm related books.

How did you find the open format of this kit? Once I got my head around it, I liked the openness and flexibility of the kit. I think there was enough guidance but I found it was really important to read everything in the kit so that I understood what was expected.

“This kit was great for our rural school. A lot of our children live on farms but no one lives on a dairy farm so we had great discussions comparing their farms to the dairy farm. The poster was great for these discussions. I really liked the flexibility of this kit where I could use the resources in a way to best suit the students in my class.”

“I didn't use the kit with my new entrants/year 1 children due to Covid 19, but I didn't feel its overall 'look' was right for this age group. The videos looked OK, but the pack that came didn't inspire me at all. It just looked a little disjointed and I didn't have the time to sort out what the activities were. It wasn't at all visually appealing.”

Lots of conversations started from it and lead to further inquiry using books and devices, maths words problems, books selected to read to the whole class with follow up activities.
