“Unfortunately I have not had a chance to do this with my children. We were scheduled to start the week of lock down. I liked what was in the kit and the activities looked great. I have ticked the middle column as I don't know how this will go for my class. I can let you know at the beginning of term 3...the rest of term 2 will be spent on change and how we have coped with it and getting to know my class again/routine setting again.”

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? The farming kit linked into our term topic; social studies and science. Had we had more school time to use it also would have supported literacy. Hopefully we can try again with this kit when we return to school, perhaps link in with pet/ag day.

“We have yet to use this kit and if we get chance this term I will submit another review. We are disappointed not to have had the opportunity yet. Our topic this term is ";where does our food come from?"; in conjunction with What's for Lunch program. Our GATE teacher also had a unit on wool planned and a classroom truck coming in to show the students more about the production and manufacture of wool, so this Learning kit from school kit was going to fit perfectly into our classroom program. I love the cross curricula compnents, especially the literacy, STEM and classroom activities. If there was an area to improve it would be numeracy...creating problem solving opportunities for the students. I do hope to use this when we are back in the classroom. I would have loved the opportunity to either visit a farm or have a famrer come in and talk to the students to provide a very authentic experience for them. Overall I feel this kit would have been very successful in the classroom.”

“We did not have much time to work with this. We started by using the large picture and brainstorming as a class all the different things we could see in the picture. The children loved doing this. We then broke up into smaller groups and talked about the different types of farming e.g. dairy farming, sheep farming, etc. We talked briefly about these different types of farms and what you would expect to be happening on a farm of a particular type. We had just started using the ";Ask great questions"; cards in our oral language programme. We particularly enjoyed the would you rather questions. Lots of talking and laughing with buddies, in groups and sharing with the class. We were planning to move to dairy farming in detail to be prepared for our trip to a dairy farm. Sadly this never happened. My class were planning to do the painting a landscape activity and were very disappointed that lockdown came.”
