How did you find the open format of this kit? It was good as we could use it and tailor it to our student's need and also add some of our own ideas to it. It was a platform from where we could extend the learning.

“Great resource and very helpful. when the pack arrived initially I did know how to use the coins and prompt cards. However when I went to the website, I saw the videos and could use it. Ideally I would like the kit before the start of term so that I can go over the contents. The kit arrived in between the term and there were so many things going on as regards PD and goals for what we had to prepare for the term.”

“We did some aspects of the farming kit before lock down, it happened that it fit in nicely with our inquiry at the time. The Whanau survey got sent home and mostly got completed. We did the story time and would you rather cards. The cards were the favourite for the class as there was lots of giggles and conversation. They were really excited about the story mat however at the beginning I wasn't exactly 100% sure how to use it. We eventually got there. I found the kit a bit hard to follow myself to be honest. Not as easy as the senior kits (I taught that age group last year). I did have to keep looking over the instructions to make sense of the resources. I have my next kit waiting to use as soon as school opens and I am excited to see what this one is like!”

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? It gave a great context to explore different curriculum areas. We added in Mrs Wishy-washy as a shared book to fit in with the context- we used that for statistics in math. The videos shared were great for the science and technology curriculums.

How did you find the open format of this kit? It was fantastic. As I said earlier I liked that I didn't feel that I had to start at step 1 and follow through. It was great to be able to pick and choose and use the ideas or prompts when it made sense for my class.

“I didn't make it through all of the kit but did use some of the ideas. I really like that it wasn't a strict step by step process. This is the first school kit I have received so I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. I liked that it was free enough to open up and pick and choose parts that I thought would be meaningful for my class. There was a great range of curriculum areas included, I liked that there were art opportunities. My class loved the videos that were attached and it sent us into a big interest in machines and robots.”
