What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Art and Inquiry - the children designed a farm. Maths - was eggs ( dozen and half dozen) . SScience - value and importance of farming. Farming today and yesterdays. Writing - be a farmer for a day. Comparison living in city or farm.

“This was my first time using a junior kit, usually I have been using the senior kits, and I was confused at first. But once I had figured out how the kit was meant to be used, well it didn't take long for me and the students to get into it. it provided great learning experiences. My favourite bit was deciding if I would rather stand in cow poo or clean the chicken coup with my bare hands. Disgusting but so so funny and engaging. Will definitely look out for these again.”

“We had only just started using it before we went into lock down so we hadn't used it to its full potential. It was certainly a topic that inspired the children. They loved learning about the animals, primary resources- from farm gate to home- I am sure my opinion will be different when we get back. It was an excellent topic to integrate all all curriculum areas. It was a shame I left it too late for us to do the farm trip- because that will be an awesome experience for our ";city slicker"; children :)”

“We had only just started looking at this before we went from level 2 to 4 in two days. We will resume when we get back into school. We have no students attending on site during level 3. The school remains closed at this time. It was really well resourced and the children enjoyed the topic when we began unpacking this.”

“My class of year 3-4 enjoyed taking part in this unit, as we go to school in a rural area they had a lot of combined prior knowledge of farming but they also enjoyed going deeper into creating their own farm and telling stories. Such a shame we didn't get to the waterways and visit a farm, but if time and circumstances allow we will complete these later in the year.”
