What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Art, literacy, class garden easy to bring in. We didn't get to maths or music.

How did you find the open format of this kit? I liked it but sometimes found the topic didn't naturally come up in our play based class time but if I tried a more formal lesson I didn't have as much of a plan as I would like so discussions/lessons were very short and not that effective.

Loved the poster/story mat of a farm and the story of the girl bringing the cows in. The art lesson based on NZer Ted Bracey was easy to follow and the kids were very proud of their work

loved the question cards! having different resources provided multiple entry points for kids to explore as they were interested, which worked well in our Play Based Classroom. Some of the resources required lots of reading, which our lower learners found challenging. Didn't get a chance to explore fully thanks to lockdown.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Lots of Oral language came out that could then move to Social Sciences looking at how farms were run, where milk came from etc.

How did you find the open format of this kit? I honestly would have preferred a little more direction I think to start with as it took a bit to get into.

We loved it especially the cards that had farm things on them that we could put in order. This kit got my kids really talking about their own farms and what things they would really like on a farm of their dreams.

How did you find the open format of this kit? Lovely format. Enough guidance to see activities and plan a journey for learning, but still allow for creativity. Less pressure too to ‘get everything done’.

I thought this kit looked great, though we had very little chance to look at it before going to lockdown. The reason I’ve only given it 3 stars is that a MAJOR reason for me signing up to this kit was the farm visit aspect. I filled in all forms, followed up every detail so I could be sure our decile 2 school would get a trip, which would be our wow moment to start off the topic. However, it became apparent that this looked unlikely to happen, even before any talk of Covid or lockdown had surfaced. I don’t blame School Kit and I understand logistical issues made this difficult, but I wonder if School Kit could take control more of these third-party activities (thinking of countdown tiles too which only arrived after SK took control over them from Countdown). Anyway, I have used some of the ideas via Seesaw during distance learning, and I do LOVE that you are putting out more Junior specific kits. Thank you for the hard work and I’d definitely love to do more kits in future.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? The kids loved the story telling dice and kept asking to use them in their play as well. So this linked in great with our oral language and writing. We also learnt more about the area around our school and where the town stopped and farms started.

How did you find the open format of this kit? Took a little while to work out how to use the items in the kit due to the open format but then it was great as I could adapt them to my kids.

We were excited to get this kit and a trip to a farm. The kids were loving learning where their food comes from and more about farm animals. Some thought milk only came from the shop - they didn't know it came from cows! The resources in this kit will be able to be used for some other topics as well so very helpful.

How did you find the open format of this kit? By being open, it lent itself to a lot of personal interpretation. At times, I wasn't quite sure what the task was asking us to do, so we made it work for us.

Thank you so much for sending us the Farming Kit. Our class enjoyed this, especially being from a farming community. It was just such a shame that because of lockdown, we were unable to go on our farm trip.
