“I was so looking forwarding to trying my first kit from you and then, sadly, Covid 19 hit. I admit to being a little confused about some of the systems you have. i.e. we were told that we would have a farm visit (paid for) and then we were told that we may not be amongst the chosen people to have a visit. We had been waiting on details of the visit so we could timetable our Inquiry around it. This aside, the kit is comprehensive and we were keen to use it. Maybe we can try again in the Spring.”

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Dmic maths using farming as our focus. Our school topic was science so used milk for experiments. Used videos to find out where milk came from. We wrote stories about the animals we would have on our farms

“My kids loved this. I have year 1 and 2 mostly ESOL kids. We learnt all about the different animals on a farm. Adult and baby names. We watched the videos which helped us to be able to discuss aspects of farm life. We used farm animal toys to solve DMIC math problems. We started each day learning about farm life for about two weeks”

How did you find the open format of this kit? At first it seemed to have lots of components, but with the use of the online teacher guide, it gave me ideas to even adapt to suit my learners.

“Overall it had some very good resources and activities to complete with the children. The new entrance class were working towards visiting a farmer and their farm, but unfortunately this was cancelled due to the covid19 virus. The stem cards were a great starting point especially when incorporating parts of the 'technology' curriculum. Thinking about what things need, how to make something better etc. This provided some great starting points for oral language with our younger learners. Farmer, farming and farm animals is something the the students were all very interested in and it was easy to spark their curiosity to learn. Thank you for this opportunity for receiving the Farming Kit. I do have displays and work the the students have completed in the classroom, and when there is an opportunity for me to access my classroom again I will take pictures and provide these as part of my feed back.”

“Although I didn't get to use this Kit completely it looks fantastic...full of excellent resources including music. I have it scheduled into my Term 2's learning to finish when we get back to school.
