Although I haven't had the chance to use it yet, I am looking forward to using it. It looks like it will be a great resource, particularly in our region (Taranaki). The topic and many of the activities are suited to a play based learning environment.

Thank you for the amazing resource. Unfortunately we wont be using it this year. I like the dice game and the detailed poster.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? The kit enabled discussions and connections to the Fonterra milk they drink daily, and how it gets to them. We enjoyed the art connection, with the colours of paddocks. We started, but never got to actually make our own artworks before schools closed.

How did you find the open format of this kit? I didn't like it. It lacked flow and connectedness. It was a random selection of things relating to topic, but without structure to help create connections. And this from a teacher who grew up and worked on dairy farms. How did city folk do?

I have really loved the kits I have done before with School Kit, with Y3/4 and Y5/6 students. I really wanted to love this kit too, and there were aspects that were good, but in general the kit left me feeling lukewarm. Sorry. I loved the farm poster. And it was good that there were multimedia links on the website. I have to admit I had trouble understanding what a lot of the kit was for. My eyes also had a lot of trouble reading the incredibly small text. The journal poem was great, but had a typo, so I ended up finding the actual junior journal. Though individuals at School Kit were very helpful, I felt that there could have been better communication about how to book the farm trip. This was only communicated last year while I was on the waiting list for a place on the kit. When I was confirmed on the kit this year, I had forgotten about the link, but emailed my request to book a trip. Then had no response until after it was too late. Not that it would have happened anyway due to COVID, but just something to consider for the future.

Really loved the kit but could see that when I did use it - which I didn't get to do - I'd have used it more of a teacher resource as the literacy level of my children are extremely low so there is no way they could have been left to use it or even taught how to use it. Even reading out the instructions would have not had helped them. It was a good resource to be used to create interest in the topic. However, I really loved the types of activities that were in there and I used the format of some of the activities to create some reading and writing activities. So I have selected 'Somewhat Practical' as for Year 2 or Year 3 students with higher reading levels it would've been great.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Resources were open to use across all areas, orally or as a writing lesson. Cards led to great discussion and exploration

How did you find the open format of this kit? The kit was able to be used in many ways and while this was good it also meant that the intended purpose of the resources wasn't always clear. To be honest while these kits are great, I do prefer the more prescriptive kits, even at this level.

The kids was great, very well resourced and had great activities and information around farming. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get around to using it due to Covid-19 but it fit well with our inquiry of “survivor” in terms of where our food comes from and how it grows.
