“Had only just begun to use kit when we went into lock down. Resources looked beautiful but didn't have a change to trial them with the students. Initially feeling was that it may have been pitched a little too high for a yr 1 classroom, but as I say didn't get a chance to actually try them.”

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? While we learnt a lot of the 'science' involved in farming, we used this topic for our reading where possible in small groups but mainly with pictures books as a whole class), art (cow based art) and for report writing.

“We managed to nearly complete this kit - my kids were fascinated by the anatomy of a cow and did lots of activities based around how milk is made. We touched briefly on water conservation just before the lockdown, but we are looking forward to getting back into this kit once we are all back at school.”

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? The dice were amazing to use during reading! Because the kids were so engaged in the topic we did a lot of maths around farms and farm animals - it would have been cool to have a few more mathematical experiences in the kit to add to that.

“We had a very busy term 1 with a strong focus on art around the world. Farming was hard to focus on, however I used it as our oral language development. We loved the discussion cards and the children loved acting out some of the ideas. I can't wait to use it next term as our curriculum allows for this. :)”

“In the short time we were able to do it the kit was amazing. The kids constructed their own farms with blocks and animals and this was on a daily basis. Loved hearing the language they used. They were so excited about the farm visit. In groups they drew farms on paper, adding all the little details. My next step was to introduce the sentence builders bt will do that once we are at Level 2.”
