How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? The kids really enjoyed seeing the other classes work. They weren't very interested in their writing though!
The kit was a little hard for my year 3s. Year 4s ended up doing heaps of post cards each. Having 30+ is too many! I'd prefer bigger classes had to buddy up (surely not many classes have 30+?) They LOVED the little trinkets and writing stories about them. Thinking of anagrams was difficult- ended up having to do this myself!

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? It's always great learning about other schools and other parts of New Zealand. The kids enjoy connecting with other students from NZ!
Loved the addition of the poetry writing! The postcard anagrams were a little confusing. It was awesome having the objects to help inspire the kids with lots of interesting adjectives.

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? As we were sending it to someone else, it made it REAL. This is the best part :) Thanks so much!
My students loved this so much - we had lots of fun sorting our poster and then the writing poetry.

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? We found it hard to follow and read many of our partner cards and so did not feel as enthusiastic as we could have. It was good just to checkout where they came from.
Lots of organisation had gone into the programme Cute resources Love the free stuff Actual programme a little confusing Probably too much in the programme to get through The kids didn't really 'get' the poem as they didn't recognise a structure - it ended up being a list of words, many of which they didn't know or would never us, as we just needed enough synonyms to fill the spaces. The anagram thing didn't seem to be relevant and the link to use for these gave so many examples that just were not words. We used a scrabble word finder and went for the longest word that meant something to us rather than trying to use all the letters. Our partners did not seem to get it as their top and bottom words didn't seem to match. Love the initiative of this and your other programmes. I know we all want our student stretched and learning but they may have got more out of it if it was simpler - maybe more about them and where they come from. Hope this is useful and doesn't just sound negative.

I've done this resource for the last few years and it was great to have a new poster and some new ideas for the postcards. Love this kit!

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? The boys looked forward to receive ";their"; poems however with the effort they had put into the work and completing it they were a little disappointed our buddy class had missing cards and their poster sheet did not show a lot of effort (I did not engage
I teach an all boys class at Year 5 and 6 level. The boys really enjoyed using the sticky notes and anagram finder They responded really well to increasing their descriptive vocabulary The anagram poems were enthusiastically completed and they also loved the small items in the tin. The teddy bear was a favourite and was handled so much it needed repairing!!

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? We received our package no problem, however my students noticed that the poems were written differently from what they had done (not necessarily a bad thing!) They were also keen to find our what year level they were - I'd recommend keeping the poster for
The items in the kit were great - they fact that the kids could touch them and inspect them so closely was a great learning experience that involved their senses. The writing tasks were varied and allowed for creativity whilst also having a scaffold to support struggling writers. Moving forward, it would be great if you could buddy up classes who do have blogs so that the writing relationship can continue. Our buddy class doesn't have a blog, and their school website has minimal information on it. Therefore my learners aren't really interested (because they can't!) in digging deeper to find out more about who their buddy class is . https://hpspercy.blogspot.com/2019/03/get-nz-writing-2019-challenge.html
