How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? My kids loved the idea of writing for an audience
My class enjoyed the opportunity but I underestimated how long it would take for students to complete the task

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? The students understand there is an audience and improves the overall result. Thank you for all the effort this entails for everyone involved.
Well organized. Interesting theme. Challenging and engaging for teachers and students alike. Pushed me as a teacher out of my comfort zone. Enjoyed by all.

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? The anticipation of receiving our package from our buddy school was great. Swapping provided an authentic audience. Due to this students really worked hard as they wanted to send high quality work. The students were really interested to see how the poems
My class loved Get NZ Writing 2019. They were so engaged in the activities and worked really hard to produce quality poems that they were all proud of. The focus on 'sticky' words really supported their language development and ability to make good choices in the vocabulary they used. Thanks School Kit!!

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? Authentic purpose, as well as something quite different from what we usually do. A great way to start our writing programme for the year.
It was challenging and at times I didn't think we would 'get' the tasks. The poem was a tricky beast but loved the idea of 'sticky words' which we will continue to use in our future writing. It was also refreshing to have different things to share on the big poster. We do love whatever you create and send us, particularly connecting with another class in NZ. Very much appreciated!

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? That we had a timeline and an audience... it's not just about us. Having an authentic audience/purpose for writing is essential and this is brilliant.
The tin was an absolute hit... talk about anticipation! (I did spin it out a little too). The best benefit for my kids has been the inspiration to LOVE words and language... our writing about a trip today was amazing with the inclusion of 'sticky words' and our conversations about similes and metaphors and synonyms. Just so much learning about language has gone on.

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? It is absolutely what creates the value for the students. My students want it to reflect them and who they are, knowing its going to another class. I actually like having a due date - we work well to pressure! My students then wait anticipation for the pa
This is my third year completing this project and every year my class loves it. This year they loved exploring words, how they sounded and how they looked. They got especially excited at all the items in the tin and all the awesome stationery. In comparing to previous years I prefer the big poster to be more about the class, so we can learn more about the class we were receiving from. Thats my only constructive comment. All the rest we love!

If you are looking to do an activity that is going to get the most reluctant writers going, look no further! Students are finally writing quality and not worrying about the quantity, understanding language features, and engagement it high. I couldn't recommend this kit more. Get on board!
