How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? Made it authentic and created across school connections within NZ.
Was a great activity with lots of fun and engaging activities that was packed filled with learning.

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? This went well, and it was interesting to see the other class (at the same level) were equally challenge and presented a similar standard of work.
We found some tasks challenging at a yr3/4 level. Creative such a large word bank took a long time, and we didn't make it with many students. we enjoyed making a class poem about a colour, this went well and students felt success.

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? The students are always excited about not only sending their work to another class, which gives it meaning and purpose, but also to have a look at other students work from another place in NZ
What a great kit to have at the beginning of the school year. Descriptive writing is so important and this kit was a fantastic way of engaging all the different abilities and likes of our diverse students. The little treasure box of things to hold was an absolutely wonderful surprise and worked wonders for those who needed that extra push to write.

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? Our kids were so excited to read poems about the same object they wrote about. They also fond out more about the area they were writing to - learned about Google Maps and NZ in general. We loved finding out about the words, phrases and language used by ou
This was a really tricky kit to get going - trying to get my year threes to think of a great word and NOT try to put it into a sentences (especially for my English language learners) took a while. Perseverance paid off and we got there. Using a thesaurus became a skill for some. Trying to sound out nonsense words for our anagram really showed who could and could not apply spelling rules.

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? I love the physical nature of this. I think some of the magic would be lost in this if it was a digital version.
Thanks for the great kit. Our kids love the opportunity to exchange writing with someone other than their own school. This kit was really challenging this year in the writing content - which is good for the children but we would have loved longer to complete it or a couple of weeks prior to the kit being sent to really sink our teeth into the requirements and how long it would take for our kids.

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? Definitely
A great resource, thoroughly enjoyed by the students. The reason I gave a 4 star and not a 5 is not a negative to school kit but simply that our quick writes were done less during this time and therefore I was aware they were focused on quality more however writing less . I find writing quantity and quality to be vital to development. As I said, loved the artefacts and the development of language and literary devices . Many thanks

How did the swapping of mail with another class add value to the GNZW experience? The students knew their poem was going to be read by a different audience other than our homeroom so realised the importance to make their poem a strong clarity so they could enjoy reading them. Great value to the writing.
The students enjoyed building the word banks and working with the items in the tin. Being selective of only 18 words for thier poems was the biggest challenge especially for Y5s. Some students created and wrote amazing pieces and linked to the poetry theme I had been doing since the start of term with the homeroom group. Thanks for the resources and opportunity to share with a buddy school.
