What were some of the values that the people your students interviewed talked about? A lot of the values in common were hard work, initiative and kindness. For the people who grew up on a farm with animals involved, our guests talked about having to be helpful because parents were super busy on the farm. They also talked about when the we
Thank you so much School Kit for providing my class with such a meaningful School Kit! We all really loved listening to, or reading over the information we gathered from conducting the interviews. I also really loved talking with the class about how important it is in our lives to think about the values we contribute towards our learning… and the values that we learn along the way!

Our kids really engaged in this. It has just been coincidental that we have a Student Teacher who grew up on a farm 40 kilometres from anywhere. The children have found this so, so exciting.

Room 4, Masterton Intermediate School, spent the term looking at the concept of Entrepreneurship and Careers. Grass Roots fitted in so well. We have explored, researched and discovered. I particularly enjoyed the Digital Stories. Thanks School Kit - you continue to be awesome!!!

What were some of the values that the people your students interviewed talked about? Working hard Togetherness Perseverance Responsibilities Respect Grit
We still haven children working in their interviews but they loved it and really enjoyed finding the places on the maps. We turned it into a game of who could find it first. They practised interviewing their peers who had grown up on a farm and our student teacher and then took the sheets home over the holidays to find someone to interview. Initially we had 50% that knew a link to a farm, it was 70% at the end of today so maybe more after the holidays!

What were some of the values that the people your students interviewed talked about? Pretty much the same as the ones spoken about in the letters. Hard work, being frugal, sense of family time.
Thanks for this interesting topic. We felt that the students didn't get as much out of this kit as with previous ones, only due to the fact that our students live on farms or are directly related to farms and our surrounding farming community. They didn't have to look to far to get links. perhaps it was more suited to urban schools? They did however enjoy reading the letters.
