Collaboration and kindness, a love of the land and the environment. Taking care of our treasures (nature), the beauty of family units working together
“The best thing ever about this resource was the wonderful connection to our rural environment. the children were so excited and engaged from the moment we started. We are continuing in Term four as we couldn't fit all our learning into this term. The personalised letters were a great hook and the children themselves made many connections. We would love to share our final exhibition with you next term when we finish”

The students mentioned the following values:
respect, perseverance, respect for the environment, care and respect for animals, work ethic, discipline.
“With a busy term, we had to keep pushing things out, to complete the task by the end of term.”
What were some of the values that the people your students interviewed talked about?
They talked a lot about work ethic, perseverance and respect for not only people but equipment, animals and the environment.
“Our learning space loved this. It was interesting to learn about a topic we've never covered. We were able to integrate so many learning areas together based on our kit. The only thing that was hard, was not having enough time.”
What were some of the values that the people your students interviewed talked about?
We haven't quite got to the interview stage yet for this kit. We will continue with it next term!
“We have only completed the first part of this kit and looked at the letters and the memories. The students really enjoyed the tasks and reading what others had to say about learning around the values. This created good discussion points in the classroom as well.”

“We enjoyed this school kit. For the interviews, we welcomed locals into our to be interviewed. This worked really well, and was a fun way of doing things.”

The importance of hard work featured a lot, as did helping others/service being important.
“The kids were really excited to read about different New Zelqanders growing up. They loved reading the letter from the lady who now lives/works on a farm near our school.”
