“I registered for the Jean Batten kit to be done in Term 3. This was such an amazing kit to complete in our hub. As an Escape room enthusiast and an ex RNZN sailor specialising in communications this would have to be my favourite kit so far. We focussed on learning and creating the skills required to complete the escape room challenge first. Having the kids learn the various ways to communicate was such a fun experience and also helped them discover what means of communications were about before cell phones! Having a full day to complete the escape room challenge was epic! Well structured and again a super fun way for the kids to work together and compete against one another.”

“This kit is FANTASTIC. I am absolutely blown away by the quality and thoughtfulness that has gone into the presentation of this kit. Not only does this inspire but really help the students see this as a totally immersive experience. We had great plans to complete a huge flowchart on the wall of all the steps in the process, however, Covid and Lockdown meant that we did not get to continue the activity. We are working on the final bits online when school goes back in Term 4. One of the extremely important and helpful parts of a Schoolkit are the wonderfully clear and easy to understand instructions and online notes. Everything is supplied in an online format that allows us to create instruction that suits differentiated learning and online tasks. We are using our Kit in conjunction with our PYP unit on Where We Are In Place and Time. The schoolwide focus was on explorers so this Jean Batten kit was PERFECT for us to really lead the way in an exciting, expressive and unique way. Many other teachers who had not seen these Schoolkit kits before were blown away by the incredible resources given. Even the inside of the box was printed and when opened to reveal to the students ( we only had the first step and clue in the box - the rest was kept for later!) They all Ahhhh'd and ooooo'd !! We had such fun going through the resources! I loved the fact that the kit had real depth in the learning, also having links to school journals, we also linked to items at the museum and Motat. Search for the Missing Medal is a kit that has been clearly carefully curated and lovingly made. the jigsaw in the paper bag, jewellery bag and compass etc - someone has done that knowing that children will get a huge kick out of solving these tasks. We used the code-cracking activities during math and the students made their own tasks as well. They took great pride in researching printing techniques, the kind of paper used and how to age the paper themselves. We poured over the large map and compared it to a new map to learn the differences, innovations and ideas since this was made. We are soooo grateful to all the people involved in making this kit, the designers, printers, 'put togetherers! and the sponsors especially. School these days can be so prescriptive, using screens and devices. This type of kit is getting back to proper teaching, knowing your stuff and creating huge engagement with your students. Thank you so so much.”
