In what ways did the kit allow development of strategic thinking for your students? The students in different groups had to communicate effectively to work out the best way to solve their problems and then to merge them with their opposite group. Lots of problem solving around this.

How has this kit influenced your confidence in STEM teaching and learning? This kit was fantastic in providing further opportunities for my akonga to practice some STEM skills they already had.

“What a day we had - we took an entire day (with morning tea and lunch breaks) to run this activity - including teleporting to the school hall for a couple of activities. My students are unanimous in their enjoyment of this - we've been doing a few escape rooms and this one wins out - they loved the story line, the fact that it was a real story, and the variety of things they had to do. Huge thanks to the crew for coming up with this inspiration - we'd love to see more.”

How has this kit influenced your confidence in STEM teaching and learning? I really liked the range of tasks, and I do think we don't always have time to do 'extra' curriculum tasks beyond reading, writing and maths.

“This was an excellent resource! One of the best I've used. The STEAM activities were very engaging, and the materials in the kit were beautifully designed. Some of the instructions could possibly have been a little bit clearer (e.g. with the buzz planes, maybe a video tutorial would have been useful? We found it hard to get them working as they were intended)”

“My students loved doing this school kit, especially the little planes. They were really engaged all the activities especially cracking the code. they enjoyed following the instructions for making a paper plane. The boys especially were really engaged in this kit and it was great to use across the curriculum.”

“Thank you SO much School Kit for another wonderful kit. I apologise for this coming in late - all of your emails were going to my spam. Room 19 particularly enjoyed the opportunity to work collaboratively and celebrate an inspirational Kiwi woman, who none of them had heard of before! The instructions were really easy to follow and the prep was very manageable. We were focussing on measurement in Maths at the same time as exploring this kit, which tied in really well. The quality of the resources was exceptional, with many of the items being able to be reused. Thanks School Kit.”

“My class absolutely loved learning about Jean Batten. It was the prefect kit to follow on from our inquiry around flight and rockets. The girls in my class were particularly hooked in by the story of the girl who did what many men couldn't! The tasks were set at a good level - some were a little more challenging but having groups with different ability levels helped.”
