“The Jean Batten School Kit was fantastic. Thank you. Throughout the two day event all the students were fully engaged and enthusiastic about their learning. The kit was easy to use and contained a variety of tasks relevant to the theme. Students particularly enjoyed the hands on approach. Six groups of five students worked their way through the activities showing a high level of co-operation as they went. Their ultimate understanding of the trials Jean Batten faced was high. Parent feedback on this showed the understanding did not stop at the classroom door but the students took their new knowledge home with them. Students were able to make connections between the tasks and the experiences of Jean Batten. This was a well thought out kit with age appropriate tasks that reflected the knowledge and understanding required of Jean Batten. Thank You.”

The students were challenged to persevere to solve and complete the different tasks. The kids really enjoyed marking the different places on the world map, making the paper planes, and solving the codes. I liked the different elements of STEM that were involved in this kit. I believe the development, understanding and experiences through STEM teaching and learning are extremely important in today’s world. “Kids loved the Code breaking and puzzle aspect of the kit.
We linked the journals with it to give them some background.
The morse listening was hard, we had to work together to solve it but they loved being able to send messages in morse (we had them send them to Whanau on Seesaw and any responses got a small prize (some random sweets i had on me) Some parents got into it and sent them back in code!)”
