How did the components of this kit allow your students to explore the topic of energy transformation? Made play dough critters and included a circuit to light a bulb. Made popcorn and tales about how energy moved from one part to another.

“First time user and was confused by a box of stuff with no overview. Struggled to figure out how to get started, but once I had learned to navigate site found it much easier. Batteries included in kit were insufficient to power bulbs so had to source other batteries. Students loved the activities and responded well to hands on tasks.”

It was too hard for my year 1-2 students so had to do extra research and find some other things for them. Definitely aimed more towards older students. Children did enjoy some of the experiments so used those to create writing experiences.

“Thanks so much for providing this amazing kit. Most of the ideas were fantastic and worked really well in our year 1 and 2 hub. The Rube Goldberg (chain reactions) activities were perfectly geared towards our age group and the students had a lot of fun whilst learning important scientific ideas. Again pop corn was a very visible (and yummy) way to show energy transformations. I loved the idea of electric playdough, however, it wasn't quite as easy as you made it seem. Luckily I made a batch at home to practice before doing it with the students. Your video showed a battery pack powering the Leds, however, you only supplied a single battery. I found that this was not strong enough to power the led. I am fortunate that my husband was able to solder batteries together to create a stronger power source and these worked amazingly well. The students adored this activity!”

“Thank you for a great kit. Room 7 spent a lot of time experimenting with the circuits. We learnt new vocabulary around Electricity and there was a lot of engaged conversation. The students were fascinated by the circuits and why we were putting wires in playdough, attached to batteries. Students always enjoy making and eating popcorn but I think using vocab like ";transformation and kinetic energy"; adds a different spin and encourages curiosity in the children.”

“Our kids had so much fun using elements of the power kit in our science learning. It was great that lots of things were hands on (the electric play dough was the favourite) and had good simple explanations with them to help understanding build through doing. Thanks so much for the opportunity to have fun while learning!”
