In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We are promoting healthy eating so some of these plants are going to be made into something that we eat that is healthy. Thank you
Kia ora. Due to covid we were able to use the little garden until this year. It is a great kit. We are trying to get the children to be self sufficient in these times. Thank you for this exciting package

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? .
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? It allowed us to classify plants by the way they produced their ";fruit";. We also delved into other plants that produce their fruit in different ways than we thought - like the peanut.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Seeing the seeds and then plants promoted a lot of meaningful conversation about what is healthy and what we should be eating.
This was a fantastic kit that got the kids talking about what plants and food actually looks like and where it all comes from and how they grow.

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? I used this as a basis for creating learning opportunities across all curriculum areas. Science and how things react and change (seeds into food), health, Reo Māori, maths (counting days) Art, writing prompts, reading stories about health and other storie
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Ideas for me as the teacher to find other key prompts to provide so much cross curricular learning.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We discussed healthy eating and why it is important for our Hauora. We wrote, created art and ate healthy foods. It increased their awareness of different vegetables and healthy food.
It was great opportunity to integrate my other learning and topics in a meaningful way. It provided great hands on learning for my play based classroom and to integrate what we had learned about planting in our Matariki learning and to follow up with eating healthily in our Hauora learning. It meant a lot of cross curricular lessons and learning outcomes

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Literacy : Vegetable poems, reading eg ‘Growing Tomatoes’ Maths : statistics - bar chart of which vegetable grown, measuring water accurately in mls, predicting and measuring growth in days, weeks
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? As above, lead to other Enviro/gardening initiatives - very motivating - parents talking about how keen their child became too
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Made vegetable soup and cut carrot sticks but not from NW little gardens - focus on NWLG was more how easy and fun it is to grow things
Children very excited when pack arrived - some already knew about NW little garden shopping with parents but not all - code breaker, badges after certification, little house, card game all added to excitement - did not plant seeds until beginning of term 4 so we could look after them - planting within everyone’s scope - we used gloves and masks from school supply - science monitors took pots outside area each day ~ students watered with spray bottle but measured out 50ml water in beaker for original planting - most seedlings took but some didn’t but extras from my own shopping + extras in kit let us just replace with new - when bigger we recycled cans to make flower pots to take home to share experience with parents and plant at home - NW little gardens was motivator for more gardening initiatives - grew bean seeds between paper in beakers to see roots grow and grew grass in recycled plastic containers decorated as ‘heads’ - had hairdressing session when students cut ‘hair’ - all promoting growing things at home (couple of photos of this also attached) - thank you for kit - Bridget Bear

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We used it in writing both as procedural texts on how to grow vegetables. Also did some narratives from the perspective of the vegetables, a bit like The Day the Crayons Left.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Further inquiry topics such as life cycles and sustainability.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It just makes them think about all the different types of vegetables. The variety available. It educates them to what different vegetables look like and grow like.
Very well packaged. Visually appealing and easy to follow.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We planted the seeds during our Green Week. Science - life cycle. Key Competencies - responsibility etc
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? See above
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We constantly talk about healthy eating and healthy lunchboxes. Each term we have a Green Week, where children are rewarded when their lunchbox is healthy and wrapper free. The kit reinforced these ideals.
Sorry, I don't seem to have Password. I found all the information a little overwhelming, too much to do. I teach 5-year-olds, so maybe I was a little ambitious. But we did plant the seeds and they popped up quicker than I thought they would. However, we did do it in Term 4, as we were too busy when the kit arrived. We are already an Enviro School/Garden to Table/Water only school &; Fruit/Milk in schools and so have lots of class gardens. My class has a large strawberry patch, and 7 other garden plots that we look after with a variety of flowers and food for our school chickens. So ... lots to do. I have sent the plants home with the children as I think that that in our case is better for the children and families to plant them in their own home gardens. The dirt we kindly received has gone into our existing Garden to Table gardens, so well used. The children learnt 5 vegetables as homework and then received a badge. One of our class jobs is to water the gardens daily - with of course a watering can, so that was easy. The paper tags didn't work well, hence why we used lollypop sticks, stickers didn't stick to the pot, when wet, but otherwise great. See photo attached.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Counting the seedlings, measuring the distance between each seedling, writing descriptions of our garden
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Students are more open to eating vegetables, growing their own vegetables and trying new ones.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We grew some lettuces and made lettuce wraps. We sold our kale to families at Pet Day.
The students loved planting their own seeds and watching them grow. They were all excited to open the box and get started. They took turns to water the seedlings and they all discussed how their plant was growing.
