In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? TThe code-cracker activities were a great literacy opportunity and we used the templates to create our own sight word codes as well. Our observations of the plants growing provided lots of opportunities for writing.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It was great to see students excited about learning about new types of vegetables. Many students saw some vegetables, like betroot, grow for the first time.
This was a fantastic kit loved by teachers, students and whanau! The opportunity to become a member of the league (with a cool membership badge) was a great motivator for the students. The seed kits provided plenty of opportunities for discussion and observation.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We used our school garden to explore how many plants we could plant and they learned how to measure and to work out the area. Many wrote books and poems about your characters.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We inspired a love of gardening. I cant wait for the borage to flower so we can watch and talk about bees. Thank you.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We have brainfood time, so we combined this with how and why we need to eat more fruit and vege.
Wow what fun we had. This became part of our weekly Discovery programme for Term 3 and our tamariki learned so much. To begin with many did not know the difference between a fruit or vegetable and they ended up trying many new foods from beetroot to pineapple. Our plants our now in our vege garden and being looked after by the class. Thanks for the fun story behind this, the class were highly engaged.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We used this kit to provide a variety of learning tasks and experiences in art, writing, reading, te reo and science.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Children are more interested in our school gardens and what we can plant in there to harvest and use at school in the future.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? This kits gave children the opportunity to grow new veges that they may not have tried before, and after caring for them and harvesting them, they were more interested in tasting them or using them as ingredients in different recipes.
Another outstanding resource from School Kit. The junior class loved planting and nurturing their seedlings and genuinely meant it when they took their pledge to taste new things and encourage a love for veges and healthy eating.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? In term 2, we talked about life cycles withing bugs and animals, so being able to do the same thing with plants was right what they needed in term 3/4. With lockdown 2 happening in Auckland, it was quite hard to get the kids interested in their learning a
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? My class has taken their plants home now, and it is their responsibility to make sure that they grow. Some of them have started showing me pictures of vegetables. We have started talking about bees and how important they are to our ecosystem.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? My class understood how plants grow and why. They have been really excited about seeing their vegetables grow. We have had many opportunities to discuss why certain types of food are healthier than others, and taught our buddy class why it is so important
My class and I really enjoyed using this kit. The resources were really well thought and engaging for the children. My kids got hooked when they had to send their application letter, and even wanted to send individual letters to their favourite as well as least favourite vegetables, telling them how they could be even better. However, working in a junior classroom, my students have struggled with the size of some of the resources (ex. the cards with the code on them; they kept on losing theirs so I didn't up printing bigger ones that they could keep at their tables. Similarly, the badges broke really easily, unfortunately. Regardless, my kids have really loved the Little Garden League kit.

We thoroughly enjoyed this interactive unit and the resources you put together for us were amazing. We are in the new entrant class and we found didn't use as many of the resources as were available. It was amazing to have the trays for the plants to be put on!
