In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Touched on Science, Social Science, Maths (measurement of plants), Writing (they wrote creative stories about a personified vege!) And wrote their applications to join the club. Busy and fun!

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We launched into learning about the water cycle and several students used this as a platform to launch their independent inquiries into sustainable farming.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Many learned about new vegetables they hadn't heard of before. It also helped initiate conversation about what we eat, as well as about where we get our veges from - Can we grow our own rather than buy them?

“My kids loved the little gardeners league! They especially enjoyed applying to be part of the club, and their excitement when they were presented with their badges was a treat to witness. It inspired them to learn about veges and many came across some they hadn't heard of before.”

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? The children took photos and wrote about their plants. The children measured plants. The children made rain gauges and measured the rain fall each time it rained.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We read about Jack and the Beanstalk and grew bean seeds. We went onto the Little League website and watched videos. One was about germination and we germinated bean seeds in a plastic bag which we put in a warm dark place. The children planted sunflower

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The children were very interested in the growing of the plants. They learnt how to identify the vegetables.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Our students were interested in the living world science of the life cycle of plants, what different parts are called and for. There were also links into mathematics - measuring their plants and categorising.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Worm farms, water cycles.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students talked more about new vegetables and foods that they had tried and how they would encourage their siblings to try it too.

“The students loved learning about different vegetables and how plants grow. They were so excited and proud to grow their own plants and take care of them.”

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Kids had to think about nutrition - investigating different fruit and vegetables and the importance of having these in our diets.

“Kids loved this kit! They really got into the Little Garden League - making a clubhouse in the classroom and creating their own Little Garden League club name - e.g. Aniyah Artichoke, Dragonfruit Dylan. They researched their fruit/vegetable. We have made a garden outside our classroom with our plants and it is looking fantastic!”

“Thank you for the opportunity to enthuse children about growing vegetables. It created much interest among the students and they were keen to watch germination progress. Many activities to use, too. The necessity of growing indoors initially meant that the seed pot tray became mouldy and it was substituted for another plastic one.”

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Children were able to learning about vegetables, some they had never heard of. It was great they they got to take ownership of their own seedling, and see how the growing of a seedling happens.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It gave the kids excellent opportunity to know how plants grow, where food comes from, caring for a living plant. They also got to try different foods and discuss healthy eating.
