In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It has widened their curiousity about vegies. We have explored types a=of vegies and our opinions. We look forward to trying some next term.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Kids are more aware of how to grow plants. We have a vegetable garden at school that they can weed and take care of.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Yes, and I was surprised by how many vegetables they knew.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? As already discussed we have used this to fit in with our Science curriculum and we have also included it as a part of our sequencing activities in our Literacy curriculum.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Healthy eating is part of our curriculum and this has provided us with the opportunity to discuss this in a meaningful as well as given the children a sense of agency in that they can grow and eat their own produce.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students work together to identify the healthy vegetable options that are included in their lunch box each day. They then encourage each other to try something new by suggesting that they include it in tomorrow's lunch. Children are looking forward to try

“Our Year 1 classroom has thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the Little Garden League. They have taken the pledge very seriously and are often heard in the playground chanting 'Protect, Grow and Taste' vegetables! We have linked the activities to our Science curriculum and the children have been able to explain the germination process in detail as a result of growing their own plants. In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? As well as an awareness of healthy eating and the science of growing, the kit also promotes literacy - reading, writing, listening, oral language and numeracy - measuring, counting, sorting, grouping

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Continuing the progress of a plant as it matures to become edible. This also then leads to food preparation, cooking and trying new foods.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Having a 'Hands On' approach to vegetables with the children responsible for planting and nuturing a plant is very motivating and got the children talking and interested in their vegetables.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? It has provided different things to write about (the class did some independent writing and wrote to the LGL explaining how they planted their seedlings). We are a NE class so the learning has been quite basic.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We hope to use the vegetables in some cooking/baking when they are ready. As the seedlings continue to grow, we will also start to measure them.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We have discussed vegetables, but this was mostly during and after the application process. I believe this will pick up once the vegetables truly start to grow. We are going to plant the seedlings at school so everyone will be able to see the progress and

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The children were interested and enthusiastic about trying and growing different vegetables that otherwise they wouldn't have heard of or tried.

“The box was a great additional resource to have in my classroom program. For my new entrants they found the planting process enjoyable and were very responsible when it came to watering and caring for the plants. Thank you very much for sharing this fantastic box with my children.”
