How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Literacy - Writing plant diaries, finding and reading books about plants/vegetables. Maths - timeline of plant growth. Technology - creating a garden for the seedlings to be planted in.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Creating a garden environment to plant the seedings. Sparking the idea of a school wide pea growing competition. Making healthy food out of what we grow (salad, sandwich ect..)
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Given tamariki an understanding that you can grow food. The cycle of a seed, to seedling, to plant, to kai you can harvest and eat. They have learnt about different vegetables they have never heard of or eaten before.
We have loved watching our little garden grow. From planting the seeds, watching their leaves poke out of the soil, to now where they are big enough to transplant into a vege garden. We each had a designated plant to grow and we learnt that they needed water, sunlight and oxygen to grow big and strong. We are excited to eat them and get healthy!

I found this a great and exciting package. The kids were all talking vegetables which was so nice to see and they were talking about their gardens at home too. I think this was a great resource and my year 2 class were very happy and engaged.

The class loved being a part of the secret club. The badges were a nice touch (though we found them fiddly and easily breakable). They loved the secret messages and using their own code breaker. Watching the seeds grow was fascinating (even for old hands like me!). Getting our hands into soil to repot the first big plants was a great next step too.

This kit is incredible! It has provided opportunities for students to challenge themselves in a range of different ways, from creating their own codes, to making up different recipes, and trying new food. I will definitely be recreating this kit again next year with our own seeds! It has also promoted collaboration in my class as students have had to work together to look after the seeds and make different food for the vegetable feast!

Room 1 loved planting their seeds and checking them each day until they sprouted. Having them growing in the classroom led to lots of conversations about vegetables (what we like/don't like to eat), how plants grow, our gardens at home etc.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Inquiry - discussed plant life cycle ... we also looked and discussed other ways to grow plants besides from seed; what plants require to grow Language: provided new vocab for children; especially ESOL in the class

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We had some good discussions but the children (well the age I teach) are guided by their parents choices to some degree. But still important to create awareness and provide them with the facts.
The kids love them! Some of the activities were great - the links and videos all in one place was great and easy to assess. Lots of variety.
