What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? we were lucky enough to get sponsorship from our local New World to grow a complete vegetable garden, they have provided the container, the compost and the seeds.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Broadened their knowledge and encouraged them to try new foods.

“Our students loved being club members and decoding the secret messages. Our plants are growing and will be looked after carefully over the holidays. We have enjoyed tasting new foods and doing Kahoot quizes to test our knowledge. Thank you so much to School kit and New World.”

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Students enjoyed the writing code breaking and planting.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Students are interested in gardening and a few more have joined the gardening club.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It was not clear if it has made any difference although I have had a couple more with fruit for our afternoon fruit break time.

“The students loved working with the kit but it was time consuming to fit into the day as it did not fit into our schools topic for the term. So far only 4 of our plants have grown but the students are still hopeful and enjoying watching them everyday.”

“The vegetable characters have been very engaging for the 5 year olds I teach and they are very excited about being members of the Little Garden League. It was a very clever initiation process and the badges were very popular.”

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Fantastic research (digital technology) about vegetables and herbs which then lead to both fiction and non-fiction writing. Visual arts to use in the presentations of our findings. Maths with code breaker, estimating how long seedlings will take from germ

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Continued learning - can we get any seeds from produce to start again? Environmental - looking after Bees, looking after ourselves, looking after our precious water commodity. Letter writing to seek more helpers to harvest plants, cooking of produce.

We are still in the process of continued discovery of nutrition and healthy eating as we wait patiently (or not) for some of our vegetable and herbs to come to fruition. “My Year 0-2's have so enjoyed this SchoolKit and will do so into next year as we will continue to harvest our seedlings produce. The children have been so excited into the entire process and have created amazing stories about their vegetables and herbs. We look forward to tasting our crops. In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Incorporate mindfulness into the Little Garden project but discussing nurture, kindness and taking responsibility.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Incorporate into statisitics by creating graphs of 'how many days did each vegetable take to grow' etc. Writing- explanation on how to care for a plant.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Motivated them to incorporate more veges into their diet. Made them excited about vegetables and using what they grow themselves in their dishes.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Next term we will continue to look at growing vegetables that we can plant in our new school garden. We will also look at what is happening with the many fruit trees we have planted around our school. We are very excited to be doing this. Thank you New

“My class loved this project. So much so that we will look at what we can do to help support our new school garden next term. The extra seedlings we will grow so we can plant them in our new school garden.We also planted tomatoes and strawberries in our class garden boxes. They checked in with their little seedling pot every day and were very excited to see them sprout. We took care to give them a little water when they needed it. We made little boxes so we could safely take them home with us today so they don't die in the hoilidays. This is a great programme and I would love to do it next year with my class.”

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? As yet, it is all hypothetical - I'm hoping for further awareness and enjoyment once the veges are ready to eat. It has increased their knowledge of different types of veges and why they are important in their diet.

“The Little Gardens are so engaging for the kids and are an easy way to ensure all students are introduced to the possibility of growing your own food. We are able to plant them out in the school garden and later on we get to eat them. The extra resources that are found for us, both hard copy and online, add to the learning and to the engagement.”
