“Amazing - my new entrants are so excited to be part of the little garden league! They have joined the club, planted their plants, are caring for them as part of the classroom group, and donned their badges to look for other little garden league members with pride. They are learning about new vegetables and herbs and we will do lots of cooking once the vegetables and herbs hit their potential! We already had a school garden so these have given us lots of food for thought about what could go into them. It's so nice to see the children are excited about trying new things, and the resource that was provided has helped to slowly raise motivation for getting involved and more importantly, getting inspired! “The kit has been great. We have used it under the idea of kaitiaki and the idea of challenge - challenge to grow the plants, challenge to look after our environment. The links between technology and the items the children could create were great. The post-box house was a bit tricky to construct and made more robust with some tape. The students have found this unit of work engaging and meaningful.”

Kids linked kòrero from their grandparents about how gardening was a large part of their childhood to what we were learning in class. Many spoke of how this was part of a normal lifestyle eating fresh vegies/ fruit daily.
