How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We have had an ongoing statistics unit focusing on the contents of our lunch boxes. We also have integrated the history of our local environment learning about what food was traded with the Māori and Settlers, growing food and working with community garde

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We have been talking about rubbish free lunch boxes.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Much more aware that 'fresh' food is different to packaged 'fruit'. Pre Garden League lots of children stated that their 'fruit strips' e.t.c. were fruit because it had a picture of fruit on the front.

“The best thing about this kit was it actually had children trying new foods. Doing it in the classroom with peers encouraged them and the clubs 'Grow, protect, taste' motto was easily remembered and called upon.”

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We looked at other ways of caring for our self. We also created art around plants.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Caring for our body- water and exercise, cooking /recipes, farming and agriculture in NZ

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The children are much more aware of the types of vegetables and how to grow and care for plants.

“The children were really motivated by the idea of joining a secret club. The codes to crack and badges which came with the plants were fantastic. The video clips and plant care aspect were very relatable and relevant for our children.”

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Food prep and eating. Garden prep and maintenance.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Raising awareness of vegetables and the benefit of knowing where your food comes from.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Talking about vegetables they like and don’t like and many children willing to try new ones.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Extending scientific knowledge of the Living World. Taking plants home to home gardens and trying the vegetable when they grow! Cooking and food prep.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Recognising vegetables have high nutritional value. Tied kit in with healthy eating unit - eat most vege/fruit concept.

“The excitement and anticipation this kit created was huge for a bunch of 5 year olds. Being part of an exclusive club added to the engagement and interest in the topic. Planting and watching the growth of the seeds was hands on and fun. Thank you for a fabulous kit which has supported our Science/Health topic and created lots of conversation and questions.”

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Digital curriculum - coding, really enjoyed Healthy eating, looking after plants, caring for living things. technology, folding of letter. Badge, broke easily, wasteful, talk around that. plastic etc.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Letter box can be used again, get recycling using box it came in. Sharing kai, healthy soil, time

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? knowing new names of vegetables, really enjoyed the card game.
