It has opened up a whole range of exploration with fruits and veges..so far we have tried raw carrot, raw mushroom, cooked broccoli and corn fritters, lemon and mint water, mint leaves, guacamole and marmite and lettuce sandwiches...Friday is smoothie day! What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Many student's now talking about helping their parents and grandparents to grow their own vegetables and tend to a garden.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We have fruit breaks everyday after morning fitness and I've noticed more of my students bringing fruit and vege snacks compared to before.

The resource is well thought out and the generosity of others through sharing ideas have made this project a success. My student's are talking about how they are helping whanau to plant and care for crops and all the different ways they will eat their plants. Growing the fruit and veggies I think has given children the opportunity to look at veggies and fruit in a different light. When the students saw their plants growing they started to feel happy and proud which I believe will promote healthy eating overall

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We did some more learning around planning our garden (technology and art) and we have also done some further science.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? This was a great one for us because we are an enviro school. We are having a garden competition in term 4 and we are excited to use our knowledge and experience from little gardens to help us win!

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? There has been lots of questions and curiosity around vegetables and herbs we have and haven't tried. We are looking forward to tasting the 'fruits of our efforts'. Fingers crossed they continue to grow successfully.

“The kids were so excited about this one! They love that they had enough to plant their own plant and be excited to watch it grow. They have had lots of great questions and great curiosity. In our termly reflections a lot of students talked about how much they enjoyed our 'garden club'. To be mentioned in a termly reflection is a big deal because they usually just talk about how much they love golden time and PE and art. A great kit thank you!”
