In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? My group used their 5 senses to write about a vegetable that I had available to observe and eat etc. They completed a brainstorm and then put the ideas down.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Many writing experiences E.g I am a carrot etc and being involved in our school garden. Recognizing a variety of vegetables and tasting them. Being aware of what a seed needs to grow and watching the process. Fabulous
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The students discussed their daily food and shared the vegetables they eat each day. Many students have raw vegetables in their lunch boxes and are aware of the benefits of eating well.
The kit has been a refreshing experience for my group and has created a lot of discussion about vegetables. They had to learn to spell many words to become a member of the club and all did well. I found the kit very easy to follow !

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The children have been able to see how natural and non processed vegetables are. We have looked at recipes which can include these vegetables that are still yummy and also researched the importance and benefits of eating vegetables.
Working with a year 2/3 class we absolutely loved having the Little Garden League School Kit! It linked into our Garden to Table unit, which was amazing as we like to integrate learning when possible. The kit encourage children to take responsibility and be accountable, skills that we are trying to develop school wide. There were lots of resources to support the learning of the School Kit which made my life as a teacher much easier. Little Garden League told an engaging and motivating story, the kids were always so excited to learn more and when their seedlings started to sprout this was amazing. It was nice for the kids to see the life cycle of a plant, although our plants have yet to produce the vegetable, the kids are already so keen to try these and are even coming up with recipes to use these veges. Love Little Garden League this year!! Thank you :)

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? I'm definitely keen to do a similar activity with future classes and it has opened out discussions about what we need to be happy and healthy in our class.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students were excited to head home and try different vegetables they had seen being printed - what does x taste like?
Our concept this term was change and instructions and the LGL fit so well. Students watched carefully as thie seeds sprouted and when they didn't, it opened up some great discussions... including 'oh, is that what those little white bags were?' when students realised they hadn't followed instructions and had forgotten to plant the seeds.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Loved the introduction, the secrecy etc (we wrote about this) Secret Codes were also great (reading).
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Could do some measurement activities once vegies rae growing depending on the plant...ie beans?
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? As the vegies are still seedlings we are not up to promoting healthy eatting. They will be sent home before they get to grow into vegies for picking.
Really liked how the kit came with the tray for sitting the little pots into it. I did like the plastic labels used previously although prob not as enviro friendly. The new ones being cardboard didn't sit in the soil pot so well..fell out, lost etc.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Reading about seedlings and plants, code cracking.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Will continue to grow seeds and transplant into school garden to be used during Garden to Table.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? They have become more aware of a range of vegetables, however it hasn’t encourage them to try any yet as they are still only seeds.
The range of plants, and the supporting resources which came with them were excellent. It was a great way to launch the initiative. The badges the pledge the clubhouse the flag everything was perfect for young children, and it really hooked them in. We repotted them after awhile because the little containers that they came and were quite flimsy and fell apart quickly. But the repotting exercise was fun and we came to watch them grow over the holidays. The secret code was great to receive each week and the children enjoyed the problem-solving aspect of decoding the clues.
