We had a tasting day where the kids brought their favourite vegetable and we cooked it and other children tried it and voted on which is the best. The learning how to grow their own vege And

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? I could see that there would be lots of potential, but we were already well engaged with another topic. However I did use it to design some maths tasks. Children had to use a calendar to work out when they might expect their plants to germinate and when t

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? This opens up possibiities for next term as the vegetables grow and also as they harvest the various vegetables - preparing, cooking, weighing, using colours to plan our diets etc.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? They have become aware of the range of vegetables available to grow and eat - beyond the vegetables they usually eat.

“The children have been completely captivated by planting the seeds and they loved the secret aspect of the resource, the badges, code crackers etc. At the moment I can't give feedback on healthy eating because it will be a while till they harvest the vegetables, but I have heard lots of discussion about which vegetables kids have tried and which are new to them.”

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The kids have learned about and taste tested different vegetables that they wouldn't usually try. It has also filtered through to their whanau as the children have been encouraging their parents to buy different vegetables after they tried them at school.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Children recognize the importance of eating vegetables but there was some limits on how this could promote using the veges.

“The LGL kit was an excellent resource to support recent learning about taking good care of our bodies, as well as linking into garden planting that is happening at the moment. There was a huge selection of new vegetables that some children had never heard of!”
