How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Science (seeds, plants, bees) health (food to grow on,) literacy, (recipes, experiences, menus, reading books on the topic, letters and application forms, code breaking) maths, tally marks, estimation, measuring)
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? To continue to learn about bees as a high interest area that came up. To encourage gardening at home and sustainability, nude food.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It opened them up to trying different vegetables and other foods. I did use it in conjunctions with other healthy eating resources.
I enjoyed the whole experience with the children, they loved it, great excitement with the letter box and all facets. The linked videos were great too. Liked that the box became the letter box, very earth friendly.

These kits are fantastic for us teachers to implement and for our children to be engaged into the learning. The resources catered for differentiated levels. Students are hooked into naming, growing and eating veges. We have a garden at school which has been used more with our students. The resources worked great in order of the learning and understanding of the process to grow from seed to eating the grown produce. Well done School Kit team. Nga mihi nui Del Bailey Oromahoe School.

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Lot of Maths learning. We used the kit to teach statistics - favourite vegetables etc. Lots of literacy links and the children wrote lots of stories about their characters. The children in my class learned to use KAHOOT so we could do some vegetable quizz
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Healthy Eating, cooking and baking, school vegetable garden development etc. We are going to plan more in the holidays!
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The children love the characters and tell me when they're eating 'Brad Broccoli' for example. They also love coming to school and sharing what vegetables they ate last night at home. Parents have been sending photos of the children's healthy meals to show
What an amazing kit. Love everything about it. Creating a Secret Club was so neat for this age group and so engaging and fun!! We are going to carry on with this healthy eating topic next term too.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? This kit has been an amazing start to an ongoing conversation - science, maths, health and PE have all been incorporated. This kit was an amazing 'hook' into some very significant learning for 5 and 6 year olds! I am looking forward to term 4 where we exp
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We are 'scientists' as we make careful observations and measurements. Maths learning around measurement has a real purpose. This kit is also an amazing resource to help my class grow their learning and understanding of our school values (wairua, kawenga a
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Children are aware of a range of vege and fruit options. As they are involved in the process - growing to cooking they are more willing to have a 'little try'. We have a diverse mix of cultures, allergies and philosophies around healthy eating in our room
My year 1 learners have been fully engaged in the seeds and the narrative. Each day they come into class to see what has germinated and their oral language is growing! They have loved the narrative and solving the codes - this has led into some fab maths and science learning! Many thanks!!

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Lots of maths - graphing, measuring. Literacy - writing about our planting, favourite veggie. Digital Tech - using the bee bots to show the life cycle of a plant.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We have been very lucky and applied for some funding from our local Lions clubs - we were given $1500 to build planter boxes and purchase garden equipment.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? As we are not quite at the harvesting stage I can't really comment. Can't wait until we can eat our produce!
Wow, what a resource! Love, love, love it! Kids are super engaged and run in each day to see what has happened with the plants overnight.

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Incorporating literacy skills, as well as participating and contributing, and oral language was great. We LOVED vege Patch match, for all of the skills it developed.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We would love to continue to grow and plant in our own gardens at school. This was a great kick start for more of that in the coming months.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Once our plants are fully grown we will have the chance to explore this. At the moment they are still seedlings.
Fun and engaging. The little garden kit had some magic and intrigue as well as awesome hands on learning, with plenty of resourcing to include everyone in our space.

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? The children learnt how plants grow from a seed and what is needed in order for plants to grow well. This was included in our Science unit of learning, and further developed in Literacy, by students writing about plants. They also measured the plants dail
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? If this kit was able to be used earlier, we would have had time to include more aspects and to delve deeper into healthy eating. With time constraints and other activities happening across the school, I found it difficult to administer.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It hasn't really. The children in my class all know and understand healthy eating and nutrition. They were more interested in seeing how plants grow.
Although I was excited to receive the kit, I was disappointed that upon opening the box I found that I had to start cutting up pieces and fastening them together. The cardboard was very difficult to cut through and it nearly went into the bin! The children enjoy the gardening aspect of this kit, but I feel the overall concept is too difficult for 5 and 6 year old children.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? There was the opportunity to use oral language and introduce a different vocabulary. Recording the germination times and growth of the plants. Comparing the growth of different plants. Using observation skills.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Learning to repot the seedlings and eventually plant in the school gardens. Researching ways to prepare and cook the vegetables.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The children are aware of a range of vegetables. They recognised the vegetables that they eat at home. They also identified the vegetables that they like and dislike.
My class loved the idea of having their own little garden at school.
