How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Great for the writing about their experiences. Great for drawing and painting pictures about their plants.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? A healthy eating unit next term. How our bodies require water and healthy food to survive and thrive.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The importance of giving things a try. Growing their own healthy vegetables.
My class absolutely loved the whole progress. The code crackers were fantastic and really stimulating. The discussions about the pledge and becoming a member were great. The children loved taking care of the plants, watering them daily and watching them as they grew. Yesterday the children planted them in the school garden and discussed the importance of protecting their plants now and in the future. The resources were fun and enjoyable.

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Enabled writing and reading also science lessons to take place.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Children wanting to try new veges at home.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? I did not do any targeted tea hing on the vegetables. My focus was on planting them and how to look after them in our school garden once planted.
My class enjoyed the little plants and doi g the secret coded messages. The letterbox was hard to make with it being on thick cardboard so maybe an alternative option is better next time. Some of the plants weren't as exciting to the kids like the flowers or herbs. Having a watering can would have helped. Also the cardboard labels were not good as the quickly got soggy.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We have done lots of sharing of other vegetables we grown in gardens at home and ones that they have tried and ones they like and dislike. We've talking about trying something again because they are actually growing it.
I was blown away by how much was in the kit! We loved the badges and the quality of the support material.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Haven't got to this point yet, but the kids are definitely more aware of different kinds of vegies/herbs they didn't know about before. They will look forward t actually tasting them.
An awesome way to get kids excited about vegies and growing seedlings. My students love coming to school each day to check their plant growth and water their individual seedlings. I shop at New World so any extra seedlings I get, I put into our 'Prize Box' in which the kids can choose a reward for hard work. Even though there are various other treats in there, the kids always choose the seedlings! I also purchased some mini terracotta pots from the Plant Barn which we have been painting for art, so that the kids an take their seedlings home in them for the holidays. Overall my kids have loved this topic so much, it has taken over our actual class inquiry because this one is more interesting!

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We wrote about the experience of planting our little gardens as we have been practising writing clear, interesting sentences. We will continue with gardening next term as we will get into our school gardens and do some planting now that the soil is warmin
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Working in our school gardens to produce food to help our school families and community will be a great follow on in Term 4.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We haven't talked a lot about eating the plants yet as we focused on what they need to actually get growing. In Term 4 when we start seeing greater plant growth we will look at the healthy eating aspect of growing your own produce.
This activity was loved by every student in my class. Each morning they would rush in to see what growth had taken place. It has kick started our desire in Term 4 to get into the school gardens and because students are collecting their own little gardens from New World they are chatting about what other Little Gardens they are growing at home. This was a very motivating activity and enjoyed by everyone. Thank you.
