What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? This sparked of an interest in the outside area we have at school and how this can be used to support our healthy eating.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? The links I could see in my classroom were through Science (the living world) Health and PE through talking about healthy eating and mathematics in measuring our seedlings.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? I feel that a seed has been planted in many of my students and their interest in both where their food comes from and how we grow things is blossoming!

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It was great the emphasis that was put on trying new foods that they might not have heard of before.

“THANK YOU for filling our room with a little more excitement after returning from lockdown. Our class loved the resource from the time we opened up the kit. They felt special becoming members of the LGL club, planting their seeds, cracking the codes and the game was a hit too! There was lots of discussion and learning around germination times, vegetables, caring for plants and queries about whether they could take one home for Grandma/Grandpa, their sister/brother because they love vegetables or they wanted to share something positive with them. Our school was buzzing, especially the classes with LGL members. Thanks again for enhancing our student’s learning, for giving us something to look forward to and for making my job a little easier during this crazy year.”

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We had an outside visitor come in and talk to us about compost and growing vegetables, which the children could inform the visitor about what they had learnt from researching the vegetables in the little garden school kit.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We have a school vegetable garden that these little plants will be planted in. The children will be able to continue to see the growth and take home the produce.

There has been discussion about starting up gardens at home because planting the little gadens was so much fun and they learnt a lot and want to pass the knowledge on to family members at ho

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Lots of knowledge about growing came from this kit.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We did a lot of discussion around veggies and named a lot. The children shared the ones they liked and we discussed trying others.

“This was such a fun kit. We did an investigation and followed the steps set out in the instructions. The children loved planting and have completely taken care of the seeds themselves. The badges and becoming a member made them feel special and they were so interested in the whole process. There was a lot of joy when the seeds began to grow. Thank you.”

My class were able to look at write about their plants often and we also went into our school garden to look at how to make compost so that we can have healthy soil for when we plant them outside. This link with Science and Literacy was authentic and mean

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? It enabled my students to be self-managing when watering and caring for their plants and now they are wanting to do this at home too.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? My class Learnt about new vegetables like Radish and Borage.

“My Class have loved having our Little Garden. Our kit arrived quickly and it was easy to assemble. My class loved being able to look after a plant each and this has increased their sense of responsibility. They enjoyed cracking the codes and learning about new vegetables and herbs.”

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Art - drawing vegetables, print making. Writing - posters, information reports. Reading comprehension about vegetables. And so much more.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Next term we are focussing on healthy me. This unit provides an excellent starting point into this unit. They now already have prior knowledge in one area.
