What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? The learning from this kit has carried on to the next term and our continued learning about healthy living. In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students were really keen on trying new veges and eating food with the things they had grown. They were more aware of all the different types of vegetables and we found yummy recipes to match.
My class LOVED this kit! They loved everything about it - vege patch match, growing seedlings, being part of the LGL, learning new veges and remembering the names of the founding members.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We have integrated reading and writing into this kit, the kids have also been measuring their plants and have looked into the science of how plants grow.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We will be planting the little gardens at school and hope to see the kids continue their fruit and vege interests.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students are more willing to try vegetables - every child in my class tried radish and we were able to have discussions around vitamins and minerals and why it is important.
Kids loved the kit, planting the seeds and watching their veges grow. The 'grow, protect, taste' pledge was a winner in our class - we even had some kids 'quit' tomato sauce!

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students took pride in nurturing their seed. I hope we planted them early enough to harvest by the end of the year. The hands on learning was engaging but also students could show responsibility to nurture and look after their very own plant.
This was an engaging school kit with students learning to nurture and care for their own seed. Values and KC were achieved while teaching this unit. Easy to use. Provides a resource for all students.

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Science, written language and oral language, health, enviroschools / gardening, lots of links
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Leading on to healthy choices for lunches and healthy food choices and promoting time outside growing their seedlings. The children could share this with whanāu. Learning how to pot on or plant the seedling they had grown.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The character vegetables made the children interested. They discussed what fruit / vegies they had not seen or eaten before and wanted to learn more about them. High interest and engagement.
The secret messages from HQ were great. Each day the children would ask if HQ had sent a message. They used cooperating learning to decode the messages. The children took responsibility for watering the seeds and enjoyed the motto 'grow, protect, taste'. The cards were quite hard for them to use. Similar pictures for snap / memory / go fish may have been easier to use. There were a number of the fruit / herbs and vegetables that the children had not heard of, so it was a great learning opportunity. The activity which encouraged them to give someone who was was reluctant to try new foods promoted great discussion, encouraging comments like 'oh, next time I could try something 3 times'. An amazing programme, thanks very much.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Tracking the growth of the plants daily. Nurturing and caring for the plants. Discussing what do they need to grow healthy and strong or why didn't they. Sharing and reading about the plants. Writing about their experiences. Reading seed packets
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Walk around our school veggie gardens and being able to recognise what vegetable plants are growing in there. Label these plants so our whole school will be able to know what the plants are. Sharing our learning with school.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Learning names of veggies and seeing what they look like.
It was a very engaging kit for my year 3 and 4 students. They loved the whole process of learning what each plant is and learning its proper names, researching about it, planting it and watching it grow. We then have planted some of the plants in our school veggie garden and will continue to track its growth. Some of the plants didn't grow and this has allowed us to discuss why it has happened. Some students have taken their little pots home to continue to watch it grow and take care of it.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Was easy to incorporate it cross curricular. Independent practical activities in Literacy, Numeracy and Science.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Continue as above would really like to take it further in regards to garden to table. Would also like to see it go in the direction of Māori food pre-european influence and rongoia.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Kids are really getting the message now around healthy eating and extremely enthusiastic and engaged. They love watching the progress of the growing of their plants and are now more motivated in having healthy lunch boxes!
Great resource fantastic idea the way it was rolled out. The secret code activities were lots of fun and engaging. Videos especially the one to create mini gardens from recycled plastic containers brilliant. Our kids loved gardening and planting the seeds. Easy to follow instructions. Unfortunately the stickers with what was being grown kept falling off. Not all that necessary.
