In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We used the Little Garden League for PBL - writing letters to the characters, writing to HQ and asking questions, drama. Interviews with a vegetable character, writing over a variety of genre and styles of writing. Mathematics - measurement. Managing Self
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We have now planted some seeds into our school garden. We are keeping a diary of observations and will include measurement and keep statistics of the growth of plants.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students are aware of a wide variety of vegetables and herbs that they can eat. We looked at some of the vegetables and how they can be eaten raw or cooked and how they compare. We looked at what goes into our lunchbox and a few whanau were adding in caps
The students in Room 3 engaged fully with the Little Garden League. They loved the mystery and codes which went with the plants. It was fantastic to use the LGL as part of our Science learning this term.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? The key competencies were on display throughout the unit.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? As our school has just started on our Garden to Table journey this had made the kids very excited about continuing their learning around growing and eating healthy vegetables.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The kids were eager to learn about all the different vegetables, particularly the ones they had not experienced before such as borage or pansies.
The kids absolutely loved the whole process from planting their seeds, cracking the secret codes to diligently checking their seedlings every morning. Many of the students took the responsibility of looking after their own seedling very seriously and would excitedly share the growth with theirs classmates.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We talked about bees also, Spring, wrote, drew and dramatised!
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Measurement, graphs.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Unfortunately we haven't had the chance to eat the veges yet but it will happen. We will make soup next Term4.
What a wonderful resource! Thank you. The children loved it and are enjoying watching the plants grow. We loved the LGL membership cards, stickers and badges. The email updates were awesome too. Fabulous!!

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We will spin this learning off into making connections to other lifecycles of living things such as the bugs that live amongst the plants and the birds who eat our plants too as examples.

Students were very excited to get in a special club and felt a genuine responsibility to try as many of the vegetables as they could. It was especially fantastic for my large number of ESOL students who learned a lot of new topic specific language as well
This kit was the first one I have ever received and I was not disappointed! The content was impressive, engaging and very age appropriate. It inadvertently linked to our preplanned lifecycles unit perfectly. Having the updates arrive via the website (codes) over the series of weeks really held the interest high. Also, making resources such as the te Reo Maori translation of the vegetable names in our little garden meant that we could link to other aspects of our curriculum too. I personally wouldn't bother with the letterbox if I was to to this kit again. The time it took to make it given it's very short-lived purpose didn't seem worth it to me. However, I will certainly keep it and give it another life again in the future. Certainly not complaining.

They were excited watching them grow and some were even shocked to find out that an onion plant takes two years to fully grow (";I will be 10 years by then!";). They all made plan
We loved connecting with our food, decoding the secret messages and learning more about the plant we have been allocated. We researched fun facts and recipes we never tried before and most of the students cooked them for their families.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? There are so many places our learning can go from this starting point. It has linked wonderfully to calf club and the gardens children have been growing. Also linking to environmental issues through the Lorax book.

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We sorted plants into fruit/vegetables/herbs. This was great for maths but also for science as we had to decide which catagory each was. We graphed the results.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? As we had extra Little Garden plants, we will continue to grow our vegetables in our school garden. We hope to do taste testing next term and possibly create more seeds. We are also planting potatoes in a bucket.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We discussed the new plants as they grew and those that were still waiting. Children are excited to try vegetables they haven't heard of before. eg Borage
What an amazing kit! My class were so excited as the seeds grew. They have taken their garden's home to plant over the holidays. This kit was so simple to use, all the instructions were very clear. We particularly enjoyed the secret codes. Such a 'hands-on' kit that suited all learning abilities in our Y1 class.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? As a country school, little gardens gets kids hooked into gardening and it also allows the kids who do garden to be the expert

We have loved planting our little gardens, they are starting to sprout, so next term we will be able to plant the seedlings into our gardens outside. Thanks New World and Little Gardens
