In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? They have found out how food they eat starts it's life. That food requires care and nurturing, just like they do. They were prepared to try veges new to them.
The children loved the process of sowing the seeds and caring for them.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? This resource has promoted more healthy eating within the classroom. We had good discussions around what the different vegetables and herbs they were and how you would use them. There has been an increase in trying new foods.
This was an amazing resourse. The children really enjoyed watching the plants grow, measuring them, and comparing them with their classmates. Thank you so much School Kit for this amazing opportunity to teach children the importance of growing your own food.

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? It ties in nicely with maths, social studies e.g measurement, how cultures and communities make and share food resources.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Children wanted to go home and plant their own family gardens. We discussed how we could improve our school garden.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? They are more aware of nutritional choices. The children tried foods they hadn't before and enjoyed them.
A great kit that the students loved! The class loved being part of a ";secret"; club. An extra bonus was the garden club badges.

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We looked at categorising the vegetables, root, leaf etc. measurement of growth, we created our own vegetable character - drew it and wrote about it. We also looked at the Maori names for the vegetable- this would have been great on the labels too.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Some of our families donated their little gardens so we were able to keep some at school and the children were able to take one each home and they have been documenting its progress and looking forward to creating a dish for their family.

We looked at the different vegetables and between us all were able to describe what they tasted like so that children who hadn't had that before would get an idea. We also talked about how that vegetable would be prepared e.g cooked or eaten raw. All the
The kids really enjoyed the little gardens even my kids that don't like to get their hands dirty enjoyed it. They took looking after their seedling seriously and we have just moved them to our school garden. Looking forward to trying them.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Great match with the SVA kit. We joined these together and made a garden and a community pantry.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students understand what a herb and vegetable is. Encouraged children to put more vegetables in their lunchbox.
Fantastic kit. Promoted healthy eating and fabulous information about vherbs and vegetables.

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We were able to write about the veges sprouting, estimating which would sprout first, stats pictogram of our favourite fruit and vege.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We were able to then plant them out in our school garden but over summer we probably wont be able to eat them. So it would be great to be able to go full circle and then eat the produce.

We. were able to have lots of conversations around healthy foods, fruits and veges for year 1s this made a lot of sense for the children as they could see where healthy food comes from, what it grows on ect. They could see that these are not prossesd and
It was a great project to work on with my class we absolutely loved watching each plant sprout and grow. This lent so much learning in my class room, from reading, writing, math and science. I believe for the children in my class this was a rich learning experience for them!

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? Students tracked the growth of the vegetables and created a growth chart over a number of weeks.
What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Writing to explain the growth of their vegetable.
In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? They learned about the different vegetables. Some had never tasted a few of the vegetables and agreed to try them.
My students loved planting their plants. They looked up to see how long it would take their seed to germinate and excitedly measured to see how much it has grown every second day. They looked after it very well and took it home at the end of the term to be repotted. They are now tasting their produce and sharing their experiences with each other.
