What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Just the magic of planting good food for consumption.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Lockdown hygiene take take some precious time away from planting and caring for this.

“Great for children to see their plant growing and to know what is needed for their plant to thrive. Unfortunately the children had to take their plants home because lockdown 2 happened. I did not pursue this any further.”

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We completed a science experiment on where seeds grow best (with different seeds) we all used maths and measured the seedlings as they grew, we also wrote descriptions of our seedlings.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? This is a program that I will continue with next year - self. The opportunities that arose from a little seed was amazing. To provide this opportunity for the children was fantastic as many children had little knowledge of where vegetables came from.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We are a new school into healthy lunches and this kit improved students willingness to try the new fruits and vegetables.

“This was an amazing kit for my Year 2 class. This was just the start and then children ended up creating their own class garden to transfer the little plants into once they had grown. This kit was easy to follow and tthe tamariki loved the little challenges that came every week.”

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Some students are keen to take this further and develop out schools gardens.

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The students gained an authentic understanding around where food comes from.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? The class created posters to teach others about plants and share their knowledge

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The class were excited and open to learning about new vegetables and trying new vegetables when we did a taste test challenge to end our learning!

In what ways did this kit give opportunity for cross-curricular learning? We went down a science route and learned about plants and plant needs, life cycles then Alston only minibeasts

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? It has laid the groundwork for future growing units, they will maybe have a passion to get a garden going at home etc

In what ways has this kit improved students awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The children who had gaps in their knowledge now know a lot more vegetables

“I really enjoyed the Little Garden teaching kit and so did my classroom of new entrants. The club idea captured them from the start and I was able to find out what prior knowledge they had. We used the little garden to kick off our “Backyard Garden” unit and based out learning around what plants needs to thrive and then moved on th minibeasts. The little garden was a fabulous introduction and it is great to see the children taking responsibility for the plants and knowing what they need.”
