What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Children have created their own veggie characters and gave them names. Then they wrote stories about their characters. This was very popular.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Some of them tasted new vegetables for the first time and discovered that they liked them! Children were involved in food preparation and were very motivated to later do that at home.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? I created a Kahoot with pictures of different vegetables. We did the quiz several times and then tasted some of the vegetables mentioned in the quiz.
Fantastic kit suitable for Year 3 children. They loved coded messages and watching their plants grow.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It has impacted them in ways where they are wanting to now try different vegetables since they had the chance to grow them they now want to try eat them.

As my children are very young it is quite hard for them to remember the different vegetables how ever there is a few they know with the help of the little pictures and stickers they could tell some of the well known vegetables like the broccoli :broccoli:
It was a good opportunity for the kids to take some responsibility with looking after something and bring it to life. The year 0 students really enjoyed making the planter boxes and amazed their parents at home as one student was able to teach her whanau at home how to make it. We had an awesome lesson which gave her the opportunity to teach other. This kit has been so much fun for our children.

How effective was this kit in promoting healthy eating in your classroom?
In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? This would be easier to answer once our plants have produced veggies. There were some plants that the students had never heard of, so therefore never tasted before.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? As the students were only young, we put sticks in to identify the plants. The code cracking activity did help a little to recognise and name the plants as well as the card game that was part of the kit.
My students loved planting the seedlings and watching them grow. We were surprised how fast they sprouted. This kit tied in nicely with previously learning around what is a living thing and what living things need to stay alive. The code cracking activity was a great test of our perseverance.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? The card game was fantastic, Some of the children had the booklets from the supermarket and they were the experts helping others.
Great kit. The children love seeing the gardens grow. They love the activities like code crackers and games. It has exposed them to some vegetables that they wouldn't normally try or know.

The children loved planting the seeds and creating our very own wee club house! We cant wait to watch them grow!

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? It had great links to science. Was a great way to engage the students in writing. Was an excellent way to encourage healthy eating and get them to look at what they are eating and whether it is healthy or not.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? It has given them the opportunity to try new vegetables. Due to trying them in the classroom the peer pressure was great to get them to trial things they wouldn't normally.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? It has really helped them to recognise the vegetables and made them aware of lots of different vegetables. Gave them a chance to try a variety of different vegetables.
Excellent kit that students enjoyed. They loved the clubhouse buy in and the little badges. They were excited about growing their little vegetables. Was great to see the wide variety of seedlings.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We have been covering measurement this term, so it was great for being able to measure the height of the seedlings and weigh some of the vegetables we had for tasting. We were able to complete some writing around our planting and about being sustainable.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? They were engaged in the challenge of being brave and giving everything a taste. They are also proud of the healthy choices they have in their lunchboxes.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Quite a good impact as they loved memorising the vegetable names and could identify most of the vegetables we had for tasting.
