How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? A big impact, we were able to purchase some seeds that we planted from the supermarket and taste them at school. We are waiting for some of the seasonal ones to be available in the supermarket so that we can taste them also - I have 22 children spying on
Children very engaged however only 8 plants sprouted, very disappointing for the students. Our buddy class started their seeds about 2 weeks later from some supplies given to our kura from our local New World and pretty much all of theirs sprouted through. We are unsure as to why all of ours didn't germinate however it created further questions.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We are learning the names of veggies in Te Reo too. We plan to do a survey about which veggies we like the best, but this might be next term now.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? They are spotting different veggies in each other's lunchboxes and this encourages other children to bring veggies for brain food.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? A big impact and also it will help next term when we start our Garden to Table unit and actually get out into our veggie garden at school to plant veggies - they have more of an idea now what they want to plant.
My class and I loved the way the kit was introduced - very exciting, especially the letters to post into the postbox. Although the postbox took quite a bit of time to make! The class also loved the veg match game and want to play it often. It got the class talking about different veggies and sharing stories of what they grow at home and what they like / don't like to eat. They loved the badges and many are wearing them every day and spotting children from other classes wearing them too. We are now waiting for our first seedlings to sprout. So, very successful.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? This wasn't a focus of our teaching but the students learnt about a diverse range of vegetables that they hadn't seen or eaten before.
I teach a class of year 9 aged students who all have learning support needs and who are learning at level 2-3 of the NZC. We used the little gardens as an activity to support our unit topic about sustainability after the students have been learning about the devastation that the Palm Oil industry has on our planet. Planting their seeds and watching them grow has reinforced their understanding about how to work towards solutions and individual/collective action. They had heaps of fun and have been buzzing about taking their gardens home to show their whānau!

My class absolutely LOVED the kit. They were very excited each morning to see how much their plants had grown once it sprouted. We created a bar chart of when each plant started to sprouting and used this in our math activities. We also used the kit for our information reports and health where we learnt about what a healthy lunch box. Well done team on such a great resource. I will definitely be doing this again with my class next year. A big winner!

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Early days but their care and attention to detail is huge. They have warned me about mould, in the soil that over watering might produce and have come up with a spray bottle instead.

The children enjoyed the planting and are very excited about seeing their seeds grow into plants. Some are a bit frustrated at the time it takes, especially when other children's seeds are sprouting overnight almost!
