What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We linked this in a lot with our literacy this term. We wrote letters to Head Quarters and they wrote back to us using the letterbox provided. We didn't use the secret code as this was a bit hard for us Year 1s.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students are now more aware of the vegetables that they eat and are keen to try more. They identified the vegetables in our school lunches and were encouraging other classes to "Just try it". I know of several families who have taken their seedlings home
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? I found that students were beginning to use the correct vegetable names by the end of the time and reminding each other of what they were called.
“My tamariki loved this kit and were so excited to become part of the Little Garden League. They enjoyed writing letters to Head Quarters and receiving replies. This was great motivation for literacy. The resources are great quality. Children loved to be able to collect the little gardens at New World as well. "I've got broccoli at home as well" or "I don't have thyme yet in my collection" were overheard in conversations between pupils.”
