What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We have a school garden which years 5 & 3 use for a programme called Garden to table. My year 1 children have loved learning more about plants, investigating how they grow etc. This has come through in their writing also.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? We have researched pictures of plants and the ones we wanted to know more about.
My Kids LOVED the school kit. THe kit was great to promote inquiry learning. SInce my children are only 5/6 years old, we stuck to the basics of what a plant is, why we need them, what they can give us, how they grow etc. My class's favourite part was coming in each morning to see how much they have grown! The only downside to this kit (this year) is that because of the nature of the pots, the disintegrate quickly so I had to find my own tray to put them in, but last year?! or the year before, New World & the school kit provided a tray with the grooves for the plants to sit in. Overall, my kids really enjoyed it and has given us plenty of new learning experiences.

This is a fantastic kit. It is so great that one of every plant is provided, and the teaching notes really help to support the learning. The children found it super exciting to open all of the little plants and discover what they were. The plants become the cornerstone of a unit that will now carry over into Term 4. Lots of excitement, interest and learning. Thank you for providing kits that help to motivate and drive learning!

The children were so excited to open this school kit and really got into being in the LGL. They looked forward to cracking the code each week and growing their seedlings. It worked in well with our school veggie garden refresh too.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? My Year ones enjoyed planting the seeds and watching them grow. We did healthy eating in Term 1, so this was a recap - how planting seeds grow into veges that we eat / buy from the store. Because it is spring we incorporated the "Growing" into learning ar
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Most of the little sprouts "seemed" to look the same to my year one's so they were hard to identify. However I had the names of the seeds written on popsicle sticks stuck into the pots for identification.
My Year ones enjoyed planting the seeds and watching them grow. We received our kit late and have only just planted our seeds which sprouted last week. There is great excitement each morning when they arrive to see which has sprouted overnight and how many. They are looking forward to taking them home at the end of term to plant into their own vege gardens at home. They enjoyed the little stickers and these all went onto their lunchboxes. They liked posting things in the letter box - this is a novelty as I think most do not post letters so this was a lot of fun. Thanks! :)

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We were already doing an inquiry into developing our own school food forest so it was perfect. We were able to integrate it across most curriculum areas and use this to celebrate learning.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? This was an area we didn't do as well. We talked about the importance of growing vegetables and fruit, but the nutrition element was not as somewhat lacking in our teaching.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? As we had already done lots of work on growing this year, it was good to see students being able to be successful in identifying vegetables.
We really enjoyed this unit as we have been doing a year-long inquiry into creating our own food forest. The students were able to apply their knowledge to a new context. They loved being part of a club!
