What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We used our DMIC learning in mathematics to problem solve multiplication cation and division using arrays of pots. Linked perfectly into our enviroschool and Pare Kore Zero Waste unit.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We looked at the healthy food pyramid and the vast options for vegetables.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? We thought the variety of vegetables in the Little Garden was varied and students were interested to learn and discuss unknown vegetables.
An awesome kit that aligned well with our school values on showing kaitiakitanga (guardianship) for our school environment. We loved the independence, students were able to follow the instructions to problem solve without teacher involvement. We were able to link learning across the curriculum.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? We used the potting of the seeds as procedural writing 'pro-seed-ural' lol. Literacy was the only cross-curricular link for us, as well as the filling out of the application form contained in the kit.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The club was a little less engaging this time around. The badges were something a bit special the kids enjoyed last time around as they wore them almost daily and the thrill of the secret club was evident.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? We didn't do many activities other than planting of the seeds, discussing the bunting and playing the card game. We didn't seem to have the access to the mystery messages that we had the last time around, if this was done differently this time I'm not sur
We were really grateful for the Little Gardens to plant and the class enjoyed watching them grow. The kit was less engaging than last time. We had a few accidents with pots getting tipped over when getting watered, we missed the tray to hold them all safe. The kids were content with just having their own Little Gardens at home for those that were keen.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? More children eating vegetables in their lunchboxes. More chn recognising vegetables on others lunchboxes. Trying new vegetables.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? More students able to identify vegetables. Enthusiastic about learning the names of new vegetables
Stars: High engagement kit. Students loved spotting others around school in the LGL. Chn loved the vegetable game. Chn talked about this at home. Cross-curriculum links. Wishes: The house was hard to put together and I didn't end up doing it as I didn't have the time to spare. Would have been better to have arrived pre set up, or a simpler construction. It would have been better to have one copy of all the resources in the box rather than having to find, download and print the different code crackers etc. it would have been better. Many of my students brought in vegetables from home before my kit arrived. It would have been better to have started before it came out in New World. Three teachers at my school had the kits, but we all received different communication at different times. it would have been good to have had more consistent communication.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Children had a good knowledge of vegetables to start but were particularly fascinated with the popcorn plant as they had never thought where popcorn came from

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Beginning to. Once we complete growing, harvesting and eating the vegetables then we will be able to do more on this next term.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Definitely got them talking about their vegetable seeds and discussing them. Most children have them at home as New World is one of Cromwell's two supermarkets. The card game was awesome to help build the vegetable name knowledge.
The story of the Little Garden League engaged the children. They loved applying with their application of interest to LGL HQ and posting it in the box. The children were asked to orally share with the class why they want to be involved. All had good experiences or reasons to be involved. They were all very proud when they got their badge.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? The opportunities were endless. Here are just a few. They learnt about germination and drew some pictures of their seeds. They wrote stories and did maths to work out how many we had in total. They also counted how many seeds had come up.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The students are looking forward to having burgers made with their own vegetables. They have to wait until next term for this however.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? There was much discussion about why they had "white carrots" and what they would taste like.
This was really fun for the children and they enjoyed taking ownership of their own seeds. The wait for them to come up was short enough to keep them interested
