This was a great unit where all of the children were engaged in learning about how to grow and nurture a plant and what a plant needs to survive. Every day the children would rush in to look at their plant and take it outside so it could get some sun in order to grow and water them each day. It was interesting to see how some plants grew quicker than others and had different stems and leaves. The children were very excited to this activity.

This kit fit in perfectly with our Term 3 Junior topic of gardening. This kit allowed me to add an extra layer to this topic in a way that was entertaining, informative, and engaging for my class.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Students were well able to discuss which food would give them best energy and keep them healthy. This kit was great. It had lots of practical applications for our current inquiry and tied really well into our "Curiosity (Science) Week". Children have been really engaged. We will continue it into Term 4 to monitor the results

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? The students were excited to find new vegetables they hadn't seen or heard of before and were interested in learning about more vegetables. It would have been awesome if New World could have arranged us to get some fresh vegetables to try as well.
Our class loved growing their seeds. They didn't think they would actually grow, so when they started sprouting, the children were so excited! We have been making observations and drawing the growth of our plants too. They have loved being in the secret club. The badges were a great touch. The resources were amazing and really well made.

We loved sharing our jokes on the membership application. We also watched some cool time lapse videos on vegetables growing. Our plants are now sprouting and we will take them home at the end of next week.

I have new entrants. Some activities like letter writing are well beyond the abilities in my class. There are no lesson plans with this kit which meant I was having to try and create and adapt resources for this kit to ensure my kids were engaged and experiencing some success. Was a good addition to our school garden program though and got the kids excited about growing things.
