In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? Not very much from what I can see at school but I have heard of conversations they have had at home where the kids are asking to try the vegetable they have planted or see it so they know what it will look like.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? The poster with the vegetables was really good! Kids found out what seed they were planting and went to go check out what it looked like and the name they were given.
Really enjoyable to teach and surprisingly my year 4's got into the whole 'secret agent' thing more than the year 2's/3's.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? All students took up the challenge of learning all the veggie names.
Perfect timing as we were starting a unit on plants - growing, parts of a plant, growing conditions needed. having enough little gardens for each student made the planting and growing of them very exciting for the students. the seedlings are to be planted in our school veggie garden.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We looked at cost of food from supermarket and what it would cost growing your own and the children had to do some own research about how much they would spend. We talked about sprays and other things that go onto our vegetables before they get to the sho
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Lots of children were excited to get their own in class and at home and loved waiting them grow and being able to add them to their plates.
I never thought that my children could be so engaged in something. They loved every moment of it from planting each of them to keeping on eye on 'their; plant every day. Yes, I got reports on every plant most days. They loved having the responsibility of something. We learnt on the tags how long each one would take to grow and the day that the first one sprouted was an exciting day for our class! Parents have come in to check on them with their child dragging them into the class. We have been learning about climate change in our class and how we can reduce our carbon footprint do this fit into that really well. Overall a very successful kit for our class/pod

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? there are some that they don't know so we are looking forward to seeing how they grow. We are going to enjoy eating them. They were an interesting mix of vegetables - I wonder if tomatoes and cucumbers would be easier to grow/eat?
The children loved growing the plants and we have transferred them into the school gardens and they are visiting them daily to look after them. Lots of the activities have been a bit tricky for my 5yr olds but they have been very engaged

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? The students seem to have taken more motivation in the planting and growing of seeds more than the actual eating of vegetables. However, our plants are still small so I am hoping they will try some of them when they are ready to harvest.
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? Students have been able to recite many of the vegetable character names
I really enjoyed this kit last time we did it but for some reason I felt a little less knowledgeable of what I was doing. I think this comes down to not having the hard copies of all information in the box. I struggled to navigate the School Kit website a bit and often ended up looking in the wrong places when looking for things I had already seen. I am completely thankful for the plants and the children enjoyed filling out the application forms, it has just seemed a it less impactful (i.e. seeds are planted, now what?).
