Little Garden League 22 Reviews

4.7 Rating 2,042 Reviews
My year 2 class loved planting and nurturing the Little Garden pots. Right from planting, to watering and taking home to transfer to either their own gardens or a bigger pot. Their enthusiasm was contagious and it was lovely to hear the stories of how the plants were either continuing to flourish at home, or had sadly not done so well. It also inspired a lot more planting in some of their homes alongside grandparents.

This was a great resource for igniting the interest of how things grow for the little people at our kura. The supporting resources for teachers are well thought out with practical ideas and information. The kit supported so many areas of the curriculum.

In what ways has this kit improved student awareness of nutrition and healthy eating? We made vegetable soup - though not with the vegetables we grew as they weren't ready - instead we all brought in a vege, we learnt how to cut and prepare food and they all tasted our soup. Success!
How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? It definitely expanded their vegetable knowledge and they loved sharing their knowledge of what vegetables they knew about - especially borage!
My tamariki loved learning all about the different vegetables and posting and receiving letters through the mail box. We wrote alliterations about our vegetables and thought of different ways to help our plants grow faster. Each morning they eagerly watered their plants and would notice if someones seedling had sprouted so we could put the sticker on our growth chart.

How successful was this kit in promoting student ability to identify vegetables? It was good for the children to see the different vegetables available. Due to the timing of receiving the kit and planting of seeds ( close to the end of the term), the class did not get to see the fully grown versions of the seeds they planted.
A great hands on kit with plenty to keep our wee people engaged over time.
